This is another very old slide. . .Taken in early 1964 by my Dad. Back then Dad would sometimes take my brother Kevin and me to a spot on Brown Road in suburban St. Louis. Brown Road ran right next to the eastern edge of the Lambert-St. Louis Airport. We, and other people, would pull off onto the shoulder of Brown Road and get a great view of the airliners on final approach to Runway 30L. The end of 30L was very close to that road, so the airliners were very low by the time they flew over on final. The guy watching this beautiful TWA Constellation is. . .you guessed it. . .Me! I was 14 years old. My brother and I would take turns standing on the sill of the open passenger side door of Dad's 1962 Chevy Impala. We wanted to get as close as we could and it was a cool view of those classic planes. This part of Brown Road is still there but has been renamed James S. McDonnell Blvd. in honor of the man who started the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, now McDonnell Douglas. In current photos I see that the farm buildings in the background are now gone, but many of the trees behind those buildings are still there. My brother and I loved "hangin' out" on Brown Road all those years ago. . .

In the eighties I traveled through the Libyan desert. From Cairo to Assioet it was about 1500 km. Only desert with just a few oasis!

See Note on Photo

There is a bit of Sunday Sliding in this photo. Because I wanted to get the wall (lower right) in the frame, townhall became very small. So, I selected that part of the image and enlarged it. The keen-eyed amongst you (is that you Gerald?) will probably be able to tell. I have outlined the area in a note.

For Sliders Sunday, I pumped up the colours mainly affecting the reflections in the backdrop of the river but also affecting the sagebrush somewhat.

Poinsettia flower turned into a colorful slide! HSS!

The dashboard of the 1927 Bugatti Type 35B "kit car." It was on display, and kits were for sale, at the 1974 Lake Afton Grand Prix. This road course is 25 miles west of Wichita. This is another old slide that I tweaked a bit. Price for the "kit" was $750 in 1974. . .That $750 is equal to $4526 in 2022. . .Ah, inflation. . .

For Sliders Sunday.

So, some would say that it was a 'web of deceit'.

A simple slider this week due to lack of time & energy.

Happy Sliders Sunday! Lesser Celandine plants are such bright & cheerful Spring flowers brightening up the woodland floor like little jewels. I jazzed the original image up with Topaz Glow "Flower Power I" filter. Best viewed Large.

Made it to the Manatee Viewing Center at the Teco Big Bend Station in Apollo Beach. When the water temperatures dip below 68 degrees the Florida manatees seek the warmer waters in the discharge canal. Salt water taken from Tampa Bay to cool Unit 4-flows clean and warm back to the bay. It was a very cold dreary day. The Manatee Viewing Center is open from November to April.

Happy Slider Sunday!

One of my online oil painting photos with a few extra touches! This actually reminds me of the Black Diamond Trail that runs through Ithaca, NY.

Confession: I did position this leaf, but I liked the effect of the light shining on it. Have a happy Sunday!

I love how this one came out. It's so bright and cheery!

I know it's another swirl, but it looked good and I liked it.
