Found Kodachrome slide dated October 1976 showing Hereford Cathedral. Some interesting vehicles of the period in the foreground - a 2-door Morris Marina, a Hillman Hunter and a Ford Capri. And a blue van that I think is a Commer. I had three Marinas at various times (COL 737K, OAX 86M and AUH 440T), but they were all 4-door versions.
Slide 04: Closing livestock yield gaps in the developing world: Imperatives for people and the planet, slide presentation made by ILRI director general Jimmy Smith at the Global Food Security Consortium Spring Symposium on 'Closing the Yield Gap', 29-30 Apr 2014, in Ames, Iowa (photo credit: ILRI).
Attaching a slider to a tripod head at the center point of the slider isn't stable enough to prevent the camera from dipping down when it reaches either end of the slider under the weight of the camera.
I solved this problem by simply attaching a cheap monopod under the one end (using a quick release plate) and then I stabilize it even more by weighing the same end down with my camera bag – the bag's shoulder strap hanging on the end doesn't obstruct the camera sliding on the track.
This keeps the slider stabilized through the entire movement; you can still tilt the slider in multiple angles, setup is fast, and doesn't involve toting any additional heavy support stands around when needing to travel light. The monopod already travels with me. I attached a shoulder sling to both ends of the monopod that allows me to use the monopod as a type of video stabilizer/glidecam when moving around.
I would prefer a smaller head on the slider that sits lower with a wider base for stability but I already had this head from an old broken tripod.

A couple of children take advantage of a small hill created from reserved topsoil in a new subdivision in Stayner, Ontario. The length of the slide is not great, but as a kid, I can remember making the best of what you had available. Besides, it is a bit like the song:
"When I was small
And Christmas Trees were tall..."

I think my grandparents never edited their pictures. I always go through mine and toss ground shots, lens caps left on, redundant poses, ends of film, too over or under exposed, faces cut off, all sky and no land (granpa took lots of these - a huge expanse of sky and a sliver of buildings or hills at the very very bottom). They kept every single one, so the collection needed some serious editing.
Most of the pics were of places. Not a lot of buildings, and not many people (other than those who were doing the traveling). No candid shots of others, no artful or funny or composed shots. Which is awful boring after a while. I'm still talking of the american ones, hopefully the pics of other countries will be more engaging.
I just spent 50 bucks getting the old slide projector fixed. It was more for the nostalgia, especially since I could buy a cheapo projector for half that. But that click and shush sound it makes when a slide goes into the machine is magic. It takes me back decades, to slideshows of family travels at that extra special time, after bedtime. There was always something magical about the goings on after I was put to sleep, so being allowed to stay up (or sneak down and hide halfway up the staircase to watch) and be part of the action made it all the more memorable. Perhaps it's one of the reasons my rhythm is now geared to staying up until midnight, 1, 2, 3am. Nothing cool ever happens in the morning, it's always late at night.
This is not where you can go buy some slide rules.
(Kids today have never even heard of slide rules!)
