Viewed from inside Metro Hall

Last night I was out again, shooting from Jumeirah Lake Towers, this time looking towards one of the tallest neighbourhoods in the world – Dubai Marina. This particular block in the Dubai Marina has a whole range of very tall buildings, including the tower that twists a full 90 degrees. It’s an impressive sight and although it wasn’t the greatest of evenings in terms of clarity, I did manage to shoot a few keepers.

This session was also made difficult by the fact that I was shooting through a very thick glass that created all sorts of double reflections, even though I had my camera wrapped in a black cloth taped to the window to minimize reflections coming from the inside of the room.

Post-processing wise you will notice by looking at the original that I altered the colours quite a bit. I did this by using a couple of masked curves, pushing the red and the blue in those curves, particularly for the sky.

High rise office towers (including reflections) occlude together giving the impression that there is no space, just office space. Even then, what we are actually looking at is structural skeletons with facades. This is a photograph with no background, only interdependent subject. Taken in the Financial District, San Francisco.

Skyscrapers dominate the downtown area of Chicago. Many of these tall buildings are iconic. You can learn about their stories on one of the informative architectorial tours on the river.

Previously Hong Kong's tallest building, the Bank of China Tower might now be superseded by newer buildings, but still remains one of the city's iconic buildings.

Currently the three tallest in Shanghai, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Centre and Jin Mao Tower. The one just peeking in is the Bank of Shanghai Headquarters.

For this challenge, I chose to take pictures of the building around my house to show the different style that each building has. However, instead of framing the entire building, I decided to only capture a part of its rooftop.
