A skyscraper is a tall, continuously habitable building. There is no official definition or height above which a building may clearly be classified as a skyscraper. Most cities define the term empirically; even a building of 80 meters (262 feet) may be considered a skyscraper if it protrudes above its built environment and changes the overall skyline.

The last light of the day blankets over the city of Manila.
Manila is the capital of the Philippines and home to about 19 million people. It is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. It is also the center of government and one of the central hubs of a thriving metropolitan area.
This is another shot taken from the rooftop (42nd floor) of our condominium tower. The group of illuminated buildings on the left belong to Rockwell Center and the rest of Makati City is seen behind it. Makati is the commerical and financial hub of the greater metropolitan area, also dubbed as the country's "Wall Street".
As you can see, skyscrapers dominate the city skyline and right below all of these, oversized billboards displaying various ads line the traffic-congested roads.

Love the green terracotta-clad Carbide & Carbon Building (built in 1929) on Michigan Avenue with its "champagne-bottle" top....
Two Prudential Plaza (built 1990) behind it is currently the fifth tallest building in Chicago.
The Aon Center (formerly Amoco Building) in the back is Chicago's third tallest (346m) and after completion 1973, it was the world's tallest marble-clad building, being sheathed with 43,000 slabs of Italian Carrara marble. However, the slabs used proved to be to thin to last and had to be removed when they started cracking and falling. Replacing them with granite costet another 80 million dollars...
The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco skyscraper in New York City, located on the east side of Manhattan at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. Standing at 319 m (1,047 ft) high, it was briefly the world's tallest building before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931.
However, the Chrysler Building remains the world's tallest brick building. After the destruction of the World Trade Center, it was again the second tallest building in New York City until December 2007, when the spire was raised on the 365.8 m (1,200 ft) Bank of America building, pushing the Chrysler Building into third position. In addition, the New York Times Building, which opened in 2007, is exactly tied with the Chrysler Building in height.
The Chrysler Building is a classic example of Art Deco architecture and considered by many contemporary architects to be one of the finest buildings in New York City
