WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Corey D. B. Walker, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and inaugural John W. and Anna Hodgin Hanes Professor of the Humanities at Winston-Salem State University (WSSU), will deliver the inaugural lecture in honor of the establishment of the Hanes Professorship on Thursday, April 10, at 3:30 p.m. in the Diggs Gallery on the university campus.

In addition to the lecture, which is entitled “The Humanities and An/Other Human,” there will be a symposium to discuss the current state of the humanities earlier that day at 10 a.m. in the Donald J. The smallest zill on the left is the smallest zill that Saroyan makes--the TInkerzill. I got those for my daughter (she was 2.5 at the time), and they're perfect for her at 1.75 inches across. The Dervish Zills are the second largest that Saroyan makes--they're 3 inches across! Btw, the zills with white thread are thumb zills--I sew the thumbs with white and the fingers with black so I can easily find which are which. Some dancers sew beads or a sequin onto one or the other zill's elastic.

because the river may contain predators, the people of the mekong believe it is important to send a message about the pecking order... by painting this visage on the bow of every wooden river boat.

I learned more from Calvin and Hobbes than I did throughout my entire high school career. Bill Watterson, the author of Calvin & Hobbes, taught me that life isn’t as simple as it may seem. There are always greater forces at work.

Calvin’s character is a 6 year old brat who wants nothing more than to be left alone to his own devices. He hates that he must adhere to rules and finds himself engaged in a never-ending battle to fight and change them. In one strip taking place in Calvin’s imagination, he finds himself able to walk on the ceiling. He also discovers that although he may no longer answer to gravity, everything else does. His shirt falls down over his eyes and the change falls out of his pockets. He got his wish and he wasn’t happy with it.

This is a common theme throughout the strip: if you try hard enough, you may be able to change the rules to which you must adhere, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the same goes for everyone/everything else. There’s a life lesson in there, somewhere.

Thanks, Bill. You changed my life.

Style inspired by .LisaK. – Lisa has a wide range of skills. My most favorite being the ability to wash out a shot, keeping it somehow interestingly devoid of color. Simple and to the point: One and Two and Three.

The fall colors were all around me that day. I could have taken some great shots if i would have been in a boat. Next time im bringing my fishing pole and a picnic basket. Oh and my Canon 60d, how could i forget that. )
