So, this shot has been sitting on my hard drive since I took it back in January 2017, I loved the fractured reflection and the sort of dark, surreal alternate reality it conveyed with golden glitter and distorted classic architecture. It's as if the building is saying, "Look at me" but it's not real, it's a distortion of reality taken from the surrounding buildings. Take away the reflection and it's dark building that struggles to convey power and strength, a false power and strength but alluring all the same. So it's with this in mind that it never got posted.
I decided to post it today because of some factors that seem to have come together. One is the obvious end of a four year nightmare and one has to do with me just missing a good walk in the city due to COVID. I've been looking through my archive folders at city pics that never were posted and thinking now is the time. Along this line, I was conversing with Leon, a new contact here on Flickr and was a bit surprised to find that he hadn't seen any architectural shots in my photostream. The reason goes back to not being able to get to NYC or any city for that matter since COVID started so not much architectural or travel photography in quite some time.
With this in mind it seems the time is right to post this shot.

it's funny, I used to get excited to find spotted towhees. Now that I've learned their calls and habitats, I see them all the time. The thing that makes the shot special is getting them when they're not buried in undergrowth or bushes. This shot was at Commonwealth Lake.
A male common, or ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus, Phasianidae) sits on a tree stump in pleasant lighting.
The ring-necked pheasant is a Eurasian bird that was introduced as a game bird in North America where it is widespread in the U.S. and parts of southern Canada. Although the bird reproduces in the wild, released captive bred birds are required to maintain adequate populations especially for hunting. I viewed this bird a few days after a release. I'd assume that the bird was part of the release given its lack of concern for my presence.

This pretty Male Eastern Bluebird posed for me in the light of the sunrise at Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Galloway, NJ.
The paparazzi oohed and awed, while their shutters hammered away, grabbing every angle of this male Hooded warbler.

Gerriw wanted to sit on the edge of the planter where Barry was playing. He did not feel like getting dirty though. That was okay by me.

This Mourning dove is sitting on a bird feeder I made totally from used material, the roof is made from shutter slots that I kept from the first renovation, I love using copper, as you see here it has developed green patina, it takes 20 years for the copper to turn green,
Doves gather around the pond most of the day during the winter,
Spring and Summer nesting on the trees around the garden.
You can never see enough of these beautiful little red eye frogs and needless to say I had a hard time keeping my fingers of the shutter button.
They are different in the Osa Peninsula from the ones found in other parts of Costa Rica as they do not have orange feet. they are green.
The red eye frogs do not have webbed feet as do some frogs but little round suction like toes that help them travel better in the plants and trees. they are amazing little creatures and a joy to see and photograph !
