To me it is awesome.
It is for every single parent out there.
Who remembers what it is like to dress the kids for school on a cold day, and be upset that they lost "another" hat, and another set of gloves or mittens.
You want them to be warm and they want to play.
This is for my kids, and so many others, who have weathered the storm, and who have become exceptional human beings.
This is for all single parents who, like me, are finding it exciting and scary now that this part of our lives is passing.
Soon, my last one will go out on his own. They have all been taught the difference between right and wrong, and really, what more can we give them.
So, to all of you single parents out there, I salute you. A thousand times.
It is always a challenge to be a parent. Especially when you are one legged single parent.

This mixed media painting is dedicated to all Fathers who are single parents caused by separation, divorce, and death. These men have a tremendous responsibility which is not easy, they have so many extra duties, hopefully, they find others in the same situation, including single mothers. Society is obligated to help these men create successful families.
*Working Towards a Better World
This is a mixed media work done on paper, addressing the importance of a mother which becomes even greater when faced with death or divorce and the mother has to bring up her children on her own. It is important for us to support and help all single mothers enabling them to give the best attention to their children possible. Life is always more difficult when one parent is in charge.
I have intentionally created a womblike form to encompass the love, security, friendship, responsibility, and nurturing the mother gives her children.

when life put u to the worst possible state, all you want then is a window of hope.six kids raised by a single mother, father doesn't even care to come and see them, the crops are taken by the wind,nothing to eat except a handful of rice. can life be any worse? may be it can. this are the elder kids from that family there are four more, who are all dependent on the mother. she weaves cloths to earn living which is very little. the father left with his second wife.my question is why should this innocent kids suffer due to someone else's doing? what are there faults.life is hard on them and may be a window of hope is what keeps them living.
A single mother during the 1960s was looked upon by some as a misfit, a social outcast, a woman who “could not hold onto her man”. There were no extensive social assistance networks available to her such as is found in today’s society. My mother, as a single parent for much of our childhood, had to fight for everything she received; working two jobs, taking night courses at college, making her own and her children's clothes to save money, putting food on the table. My mother, through sheer determination and courage, succeeded in her dual parenting roles. By any definition found either in the 1960s or the present day, my mother was and remains a true warrior.

My mom was a single parent during the 60's and she was always working to make sure that her family was always taken care of. On 7/1/12, I was contacted by the Getty Images team via the Flickreenos regarding interest in this photo! They wanted a high resolution of this photo, but I think this is the best resolution I can get out of this old photo!

This book written by Sujata Parashar and meant for Single parents keeping in mind their needs. Large section of single parent households are headed by single mothers, who are, at best, raising their children instinctively and with little knowledge or adequate support. This trim sized handguide has been developed with insights, workable ideas and real life experiences shared by about fifty single parents. The aim of this book is to offer simple parenting tools and techniques to guide single parents in their endeavour to raise strong, capable and confident children as well as focus on their own emotional wellbeing and create a happy family.
More than 2,800 single parents on income and disability assistance are already getting the supports they need to find employment and build a more secure future through the Single Parent Employment Initiative (SPEI), a program that provides skills training or work experience and wrap-around supports.
Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation Michelle Stilwell met with three of the participants, two single fathers and a single mother, who were among the first to access the program, to discuss their experiences and hopes for the future. Donald Cameron and Heidi Ackermann are just about to graduate from training programs and Donald McCutcheon is halfway through a work experience program.

This is for my mom(inay). I really miss her.
She's my ultimate idol. She embraced her role as a single parent to raise us after my father passed away, I was 2 then. A tough and one of a kind superwoman!
I'm excited to see her soon.
Thanks to the support of the Single Parent Employment Initiative, Morgan is starting the New Year with a great new career and couldn't be happier.
Her children, three and four, are the two biggest reasons that Morgan wanted to go back to school. "I'm hoping to show them that going to school is everything. Going to school is giving me a job that I love to do."

Tanya is back at school and is thankful for the help that she has received along the way from the Single Parent Employment Initiative (SPEI), her WorkBC Employment Services Centre case manager, employment counsellor and the staff and faculty at Selkirk College.

A share on social media led Kirstin to hear about the Single Parent Employment Initiative (SPEI) which is turning her life around.
As a single parent on disability assistance, Kirstin qualified for the tuition, child care and other supports that SPEI provides. She has now graduated and is working at an in-demand job that she loves.

ENGLISH. A strange view-point near a souvenir shop. We found this while we were leaving the Lassithi plateau and going to Agios Nikolaos (Crete). I have smiled in front of these objects; I have thought about some kind of praise of contemplation. I have also thought about a single-parent "family portrait": an adult and three kids. Catapults and binoculars are very different objects, but catapults' elastics and binoculars's strap have a similar shape. Adulthood and childhood; war and peace, too.
Today, while I am publishing this picture, I am also thinking about the anniversary of a conflict. Israel, Palestine... when will you leave weapons and have a look together over the barrier?
FRANÇAIS/FRENCH. Un étrange belvédère, croisé en quittant le plateau de Lassithi pour Agios Nikolaos (Crète). J'ai souri en découvrant cette paire de jumelles, fixée à un montant de parasol, et ces lance-pierres. J'ai tout de suite pensé que cet ensemble pourrait constituer une sorte d'éloge de la contemplation. Ensuite, au prix d'un petit effort d'imagination, j'ai également songé à une sorte de portrait de famille monoparentale. Avec, dans le rôle de l'air de famille, la courroie des jumelles et les élastiques des lance-pierres.
Aujourd'hui, devant ma photographie, je pense également à la guerre et à la paix ; je pense aux 60 ans d'un conflit : Israël, Palestine... Quand délaisserez-vous les armes ? Quand saurez-vous enfin regarder, de conserve, l'horizon au-delà de la barrière ? (Les lance-pierres pourraient laisser penser que j'invite plus particulièrement les Palestiniens à produire l'effort, mais ce n'est aucunement le cas.)

Georgia, 2010: Sopio Gvenetadze and her children stand in their home in Kutaisi. A widow, Ms. Gvenetadze lives in extreme poverty, but with help from the Social Service Agency, she avoided institutionalizing her children. In Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States, it is estimated that over a million children are institutionalized due to poverty or disability. UNICEF supports programmes, such as family assistance and fostering, to reduce the number of children living in institutions.

As a teen, Josephine had a vision of making furniture incorporating traditional First Nation designs as a way of celebrating her culture.
