Glen David Andrews with 2Twogether
With his extraodinary jazz, funk, and blues energy, the New Orleans singer and trombonist Glen David Andrews meets two young prodigies from the European soul scene in Ascona
Born in 1979 and raised in the New Orleans Treme (probably one of the oldest black communities in the United States), Glen David Andrews took his first steps in marching bands, alongside his brother Derrick Tabb and his cousins Trombone Shorty, James Andrews, and Trumpet Black Hill. An artist who embodies all of the vitality of jazz, funk, and blues, Andrews once again caught the attention of audience and critics with his 2014 album “Redemption”, which received six nominations to the Best of the Beat Awards and marked his own personal and musical rebirth. After about ten European concerts in fall 2015, at JazzAscona the singer/trombonist with a deep and powerful voice will meet two young prodigies of European groovy jazz: Jerôme Cardynaals, drums, (with whom he’s already been on tour) and Hammond organ player Simon Oslender. Under 20, both have already enjoyed the privilege of performing with names such as Dr Lonnie Smith, Nils Landgren, and Benny Golson; they collaborate regularly with guitarist Bruno Müller, who has collaborated, among others, with Mezzoforte, Till Brönner, and Joe Sample. This meeting is expected to be explosive!
