A pair of BNSF Geeps prepare to switch Sims Metal Management on the west side of Chicago. Today, they will have to drop off two empties and pick up a string of scrap loads, then shove them back to Western Avenue Yard. BNSF 2582 and BNSF 2286 are the power.
It's a bit hard to get a sense of how huge this landscape is, but that tiny square towards the bottom mid-left of the picture is a tin roof shining in the sun far below us.

New to Searon, Felixstowe as a skeletal
1908 Ransomes Sims & Jefferies portable steam engine. Worked in Chile until recently then returned to England, restored at Ipswich new firebox, chimney, smoke box and tubes the rest is as made in 1908.

THERE ARE ABOUT 14 OF THESE RETIRED EMD MODEL SD40,s THEY ARE 1966 MODELS PURCHASED SECOND HAND ARRIVING IN THE PILBRA IN 2003 AND BEING RETIRED AS LATE AS 2013, THERE IS ALSO SOME GE AC6000"s BUILT IN 1999 AND WITHDRAWN BY 2013 AMONGST THEM.
