A 3D rendering of the sim room when I was considering a curved projection screen. I ended up using LEDs due to the brightness and clarity.
These shiny boards with SIMS on the nose were European production made at Elan in 88-89, PU foam construction with two straps of wood floating inside. Was heavier than the Southern California production. The "Kevlar" in all models was so minimal.
Indicators: black sidewalls, continuous sidewall no material changes "molded", no serial number under ptex on base, aluminum tail protector showing on base, "SIMS" screened on nose, heavier weight steel edge.

A Volvo FH16 belonging to Sims Milling parked up in Ashford this afternoon. A picture taken with my Grandpa while out walking.
Pacific Bell Wireless SIM -- the one I used. It's well worn as it had been used in many phones over the years but this was actually my second card. If I recall the first one was a 8k version that held a tiny amount of contacts.
I was forced to upgrade this one to a AT&T card last year sometime to facilitate the network upgrades that have been happening in Los Angeles.
It's time for Halloween! While the rest of us get ready with costumes, party and events, Second Life sim builders have created several places for us avies to explore.
We went to a few last week and ran into some incredible builds and artwork. All included haunted houses, pumpkin patches, Halloween shopping and music.
Paradise City sim featured House of Horrors, a mesmerizing psy place with cuddle areas for avies. We snuck a kiss in the purple and red bedroom LOL!
At the Pixel Trix sim, we found Octobervile. Then, the Dark Dharma on Dacia provided halloween themed costumes. I liked this one a lot! Very scarey and very cool navigation through the haunted house. At the haunted house for Dark Dharma, we even did a seance listening to very spooky voice of Vincent Price. Ooooooo.
But the very best was at Le Cimetierie, an old build featuring gothic church. We came back to this one twice, taking pictures at the church with both of us hanging from the cross. (shhh... a couple of Catholics being so silly) Notice Xavier praying below me. LOL!
Also, the first party we hit for Halloween theme was at BassLine Junkiez. DJ Doubledown Tandino was spinning a 70's pimp party. OMG, I never laughed so hard. Everyone sported an afro including me. (I can't believe we all had the same things in our inventory)
Doubledown spun Super Fly and tunes from Jackie Brown. I had 5 inch platforms and a disco dress while Xavier was dressed quite like a gangster. So fun. One avie sported a full on drug dealer costume LOL!
Halloween is fun. Explore the SL sims and enjoy these fantastic displays of goth, horror and surrealism. Ciao!
I started playing sims 3 yesterday.. My sims ended up pregnant on the third day and her music-career was put on hold for what seemed like months even though it was only 6 days or so.
Well she finally had her baby girl in the hospital I chose to call the girl Claire and she was born with athletic genes.
I'm off to play more Sims 3!

This weekend I am sharing two more photographs from my ongoing project photographing professional classical musicians, a three-year project during which I have the opportunity to attend many rehearsals and concerts and generally spend a lot of time learning to see and understand this world. (I already understood more than most since I've been part of it in several ways for many years.) Both of these photographs are casual shots made during rehearsals. Such photos remind us of several things, I think. First, it is possible to get some odd ideas about who the musicians are if your only experience is seeing them in formal concert situations — but backstage and during rehearsals... they are "regular people" just like all of us. Second, and from the same perspective, it is easy to overlook that fact that the vast majority of the work necessary for a live performance is actually done outside of the performance, with often intense and lengthy periods of individual practice and preparation and significant time spent on group rehearsal. And, finally, in both of these photographs I think you will see the intense focus of these musicians. Janet Sims is a first-stand violist in the Symphony Silicon Valley.

Biographical History: George Sims was born in Windsor, NSW in 1890 to Walter Henry Sims and Louisa Lock of the Darug people. He was working as a labourer in Goomeri when he enlisted in Brisbane 10 June 1918.
Sims was initially assigned to the 5th General Reinforcements, Queenslandopen_in_new and trained at Rifle Range Camp, Enoggera, just outside the city of Brisbane. Sims left Brisbane aboard a specially assigned troop train bound for Sydney where they embarked on the troopship HMAT Borda in July 1917 arriving in England 6 weeks later in late September.
While training at military camp at Fovant, in Wiltshire he was assigned to the 26th Infantry Battalion but fell ill in late October with chronic bronchitis and was admitted to the Military Hospital at Hurdcott, another Australian facility.
Simms was never to see action in the front line, the war had ended in Europe by the time he was well enough to participate. He was repatriated to Queensland in December 1918 returning on the hospital ship Somali.
Sims lived and worked in both Queensland and NSW – Cloncurry, Wowan in the Dawson Valley and Junee, in the Riverina region of NSW; he married Mary Ellen Armstrong in 1939.

"Sims previously made the legendary Sims Burner, a stiff split-tail race board that Mark Fawcett helped design. It has very high stability and is designed for pure speed, but with the maneuverability of a shorter board. '00 was the last season that you could buy a Sims Burner in the US, but it was continued for a few years later in Japan, then the model was manufactured under the Hasco brand until '03. Burners require some care when riding, since it is possible to break the tail if you land on it hard. It came in lengths of 162, 167, 188, and 197: all lengths except the 162 had a split tail. Burners are becoming increasingly rare, since the tails continue to break on what few boards still remain. If you own a Burner, you'll probably break the tail sooner than later. The 178 length was custom made for the Japanese snowboard team, and is extremely rare."
