A simple hack.
1/2" screw protectors from HD, exactly fit over the backrest bumpers. Mine are hard and starting to crack and split (and of course have some damn red spray paint on them) so these fit snuggly over the old ones.
Update:
I found some rubber things called 'vacuum caps' at Autozone. The 5/16" ones fit over the metal studs (what's under the black thing on the left). You just have to cut them shorter, to match the length of the original black bumpers. Then the grey screw protectors fit over the trimmed vacuum caps. New supersnug, quiet bumpers for the backrest, AND the grey screw protectors EXACLTY color match the Rustoleum Industrial Grey paint!

Testing color rendition with studio strobe gelled to 5000K (using Rosco CalColor gels). The color space used was Identity Color Space (from ninedegreesbelow.com).
Adobe LR converted it to it's own color space upon import.
