11 Apr 1988 NS Simpelveld station. The service from Kerkrade Centum to Valkenburg ceased to run on 28 May 1988 and the Aachen to Maastricht service on 30 May 1992. In 1995 a preservation society ZLSM took over the line and runs steam trains over parts of it.

Op 19-12-2015 reed er tussen Simpelveld en Valkenburg de ZLSM Kersttrein, hier de trein bij vertrek na een tussenstop te Schin op Geul.

Wanneer ze qu prijs aardig zijn wil ik ook wel eens een kaartje met een spoor - onderwerp aanschaffen. Deze is wel erg leuk. Zicht op het station Simpelveld met een Schienenbus op de lijn naar Aachen via Richterich, een railbus in vroege toestand met ruitjes boven de kopramen. In het station staat een stoomloc die ik lastig kan identificeren, mogelijk een NS 6300. In het midden van deze driehoek op de voorgrond staan thans de gebouwen van de ZLSM museum stoomtrein. The three signal boxes take care of the operation of the various switches, (shunting) signals and crossings. Post II in Simpelveld is connected to post T Wijlre by a hand-operated block system.

Aan het einde van de dag tijdens de stoomtreindagen van de ZLSM.
De lokomotief is zojuist gerestaureerd en voor bereid voor de volgende dag.
23 071 and 076 double head a freight train between Eys and Simpelveld. This was a rather 'tight' location for a double headed train, but there were very few alternatives.
Railwaystation - it's like a journey back in time. Still all about to be on time, a coming and going of passengers rushing by, the sounds of trains, luggage and goods on the platform and shouting of railway staff. An impressive view in railway transport history as it was.
