Designed by John Eberson, this 1938 shopping center was one of the earliest with a parking lot in front. The "Park and Shop" in Cleveland Park was earlier, built in 1930. While they're both architecturally attractive and the parking areas are small in scale, the trend started was not a good one, urban-planning-wise.
