The Jacaranda (Bignoniaceae) is common throughout most of the warmer regions of the world. The tree typically blooms twice here in California, with a fine showing of color in May and perhaps a little less color in early autumn. Here is a little more information about the Blue Jacaranda tree. For comparison, here is the same tree (I think) but not in bloom.
