The Inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con in San Jose Convention on March 19, 2016

A group of 50 UC Davis Engineering students traveled to San Jose on January 23 to learn about innovation and careers in Silicon Valley. The event was hosed by Synaptics, a technology company that is a pioneer and leader in the field of human interface solutions. The UC Davis students interacted with representatives from several companies, including a presentation by Francis Lee ’78, chair and past CEO of Synaptics. The UC Davis students also heard the experiences of several alumni in Silicon Valley, including April Fallon ’89, chief of staff, LinkedIn; Sahas Katta ’11, founder, Smartcar Inc.; Matt Kerby ’93, co-founder, CytoMag; Dougal MacLise ’75, manager, NASA Ames; Paul Medved ’78, Project Manager,BART; Josh Michel ’00, scientist, DuPont Industrial Biosciences; and John Sullivan ’79, CEO, Alzeta Corporation.

 

Following the afternoon sessions alumni from the greater Bay Area were invited to join students for a networking reception at Synaptics, which featured a presentation by Engineering Student Start-up Center (ESSC) manager Lucas Arzola.
