There are so many signs in town that I have known for years and it occurred to me that someday they won't be there - as is this one. It has been an icon in town for years and has been retired. So I have decided to start documenting the ones I see here and there.

the red and white signage give directions to cyclists. I'm not sure, but the Netherlands may be the only country that has a dedicated sign system for cyclists.

Torn sign on a wall in Zanesville, Ohio that says "Suspicious activity reported to police". I wonder if the suspicious activity included tearing up the sign.

Covent Garden, in the rain, 29/5/07
Lots of fresh snow, but it made for an unstable base, so all the back bowls were closed due to avalanche danger.
The ketubah text was collaboratively adapted and written by me and Catherynne M. Valente. The amazing paramedic and art historian Beth Haven did the calligraphy.
The text reads:
"Let all the world stand witness that on the 29th day of August in the year 2009, [my full name] and [Dave's full name] hereby enter into the covenant of marriage.
"Surrounded by our family and friends, we affirm our commitment to each other as husband and wife. Our lives are now forever intertwined, growing far beyond the obstacles we overcame to reach this point, and knowing with perfect confidence that even when Danielle comes to bed late and tired, David will always turn, even dreaming, to kiss her wrist in the dark.
"Our similarities will strengthen us, our differences will enrich us, and our love will bind us. We will celebrate all of the passages of our individual lives together with joy and trust, intertwining our separate ambitions, our dual desires, and our every need and want, peculiar and quotidian. In times of happiness we will cherish each other, and in times of trouble we will shelter each other. Our home will be a place filled with learning, laughter, and light, shared freely with all who dwell or visit there. We accept the wonderment and the complex responsibilities of a life shared, and will work side by
side to solve what problems may come, all the days of our lives.
