Occupied Seattle sign by Seattle signmaker "Parris". The sign was on display as part of a "Vanishing Seattle" exhibit at RailSpur in Pioneer Square, Seattle. Contrary to what I would have thought, the sign (as a commenter explains below) has nothing to do with the 2011 Occupy Seattle action nor the 2020 CHOP on Seattle's Capitol Hill. As is explained below, Occupied Seattle (1985-1999) was a small vintage shop in Belltown, Seattle owned by Geof Spencer at 2323 2nd Ave (current home of the restaurant Tavolata), but more than a shop it was an unofficial performance venue. See comment for details.

23 - Steel Elephant

The concept of this elephant links back to Sheffield’s heritage as a city internationally known for its steel production. Not content with simply painting the exterior of their elephant, artist Tom Clayton has gone one step further, creating an elaborate steel wire frame made up of wires, cogs and lights. After inserting the wire frame into the sculpture, he cut away sections of the fiberglass casing, allowing the organs of the cyborg elephant to be displayed for all to see. Each cut out section was then covered in acrylic to protect the delicate structure. The rest of the elephant was painted with a chrome finish to give it a metallic looking outer shell. All of the materials for this elephant were sourced locally in Sheffield. The chrome finish along with the rivets is a vinyl wrap which was done at a signmaker called RJ Signs based in Northwich.
