Built in 1905 as the Southern Pacific passenger station, it's 110 years old this year. Just prior to its 100th anniversary, Amtrak renovated the station, including changing the paint color to a golden brown. I photographed this in 1979 when it wore an off-white color with chocolate beige trim at the base of each of the columns. Something else is different in this photo that is not seen today: a train orders stand along with accompanying train orders signal lights. The bottom light would be lit in white with the letters "TO" to signify that the crew had to pick up train orders from the stand. [35mm film: Mamiya MSX-1000]
