The City of Madera, California came up with a unique solution to hopefully prevent lightning strikes on their signal lights. They rented a number of lifts and placed at least one at every signal intersection which, obviously, made United Rentals extremely happy. When it gets stormy, you will see prisoners running around town removing tires from the lifts so the lift has contact with the earth for a good ground.
Makes me feel a little better about that $60,000 per prisoner per year I'm helping pay for.

Not many people know that back in 390 BCE, Chinese philosopher, Mozi, and Greek philosopher, Aristotle, got together on this corner to discuss the principles of camera obscuras. Of course, back then, this building wasn't a Bank of America, it was a Mayan temple later repurposed as a bank. Mozi was really impressed with Aristotle considering Aristotle was just six years old at the time. After their discussion, they traded firecrackers and ouzo.
(The above account is accurate from what I remember. It may be clouded a little because I got into the ouzo pretty early.)

Heading to Akihabara, I stopped at Asakusabashi, and took some photos, including these shots of the signal lights.
These folks freely roamed the town without restraint. It was pretty scary until we found out they were just tourists like us!

Die Demonstration war Friedlich und bunt, vor Beginn der Demo kletterten ein Paar Aktivisti auf ein Baugerüst, gegenüber vom Start und Ziel Punkt.

It's not quite like the mountain, but, I imagine it would be fun scaling. I don't know, maybe there are too many windows too close together to make it a challenge. The exterior looks pretty smooth, so, that might make for an additional degree of difficulty. Then again, maybe not. I just know that I'm not trying it.
