Poco antes de partir para el Putumayo, que ya me hace falta, pude hacerle un par de fotos a este bicho, la Pseudolycaena marsyas, una mariposa de la familia Lycaenidae, subfamilia Theclinae y tribu Eumaeini. Ahora bien, estas nuevas imágenes las obtuve en el sector conocido como Verdeyaco, en la comunidad de San Juan de Villalobos, municipio de Santa Rosa, departamento del Cauca, Colombia, es decir, en la llamada "bota caucana".
Retomando a mi muy socorrida fuente de conocimientos, learnaboutbutterflies, podemos leer un material que no dudo en repetir, porque es repitiendo como se aprende... y yo quiero aprender. Según Adrian Hoskinsque, el autor de los textos de este fabuloso sitio web que no me canso de recomendar, "casi todas las especies neotropicales de Theclinae se incluyen en los Eumaeini. La tribu no está especialmente bien representada en las colecciones, por lo que hasta hace poco tiempo un alto porcentaje permanecía sin estudiar y se archivaba inapropiadamente en el género "de conveniencia" Thecla. Muchos taxónomos han intentado racionalizar la sistemática de los Eumaeini, siendo el más reciente (o destacado, no sabría decirlo) Robbins, que publicó una revisión en 2004, reclasificando los taxones en 83 géneros. Actualmente se conocen 1058 especies. Teniendo en cuenta su pequeño tamaño, su comportamiento sigiloso y las grandes similitudes entre muchas especies, se estima que probablemente queden por descubrir unas 200 especies más".
"El género Pseudolycaena comprende solo 2 especies: el damo, de América Central, y el marsyas, que se encuentra desde Colombia hasta Paraguay, y también en varias islas del Caribe".
"La Pseudolycaena marsyas es enorme en comparación con la mayoría de las demás integrantes de esta tribu, ya que mide casi 6 cm de envergadura. La superficie superior de las alas es de color azul metálico, aunque la tonalidad varía según la ubicación, desde el azul ultramar en las formas del Caribe hasta el azul turquesa en Paraguay. En la mayoría de las formas los machos tienen un ápice falcado (así le dicen los especialistas a las estructuras que forman una curvatura semejante a la de la hoz). Todas estas formas se asignan a una única subespecie: Pseudolycaena marsyas marsyas. Ambos sexos tienen cola.
Esta especie se encuentra en hábitats forestales semiabiertos perturbados en altitudes comprendidas entre el nivel del mar y unos 900 m".

Febrero se cuela sigilosamente en el calendario. Confieso que no es precisamente mi mes preferido, al contrario, más bien es un mes que intento cruzar deprisa y con los ojos cerrados.

Yachi: Vc acha que não, mas eu gasto muita energia nos meus trabalhos. E estou contando nos dedos para chegar o dia do meu pagamento...
Frozen: Eu já estou te pagando.

Sir Harold Poole: Born in 691 AV, the son of the famous Sir Dustin Poole, who fought alongside King Davian the Bold in the Great Dragon Extermination campaign that ended in 683AV. Many knights died during this campaign, so many lands and keeps became vacant. Sir Dustin became a landed knight, and took the yellow crowned lion as his sigil, to honour both his liege Lords, the Casterwoods, and the Crown. Sir Harold was knighted himself in 708AV after winning the squire’s melee at the royal tourney commemorating the birth of Prince Dendrick Fielder.
When Sir Dustin died in 715AV, his Keep called Otter Pool was passed to Sir Harold. When Lord Pyrseus called his banners to ride to the Frost Gate in 718AV, Harold hesitated before riding to war against the crown. His father had told him many stories of the King’s legendary exploits, but lately, many rumours spread telling of a King who’d become callus and evil-spirited. Sir Haytham Blythe was an old friend of Harold, and he was convinced that change of leadership was warranted. With the belief that he was fighting for the good of the kingdom, Harold answered the call to arms.
At the Battle of Brothers Blood, Sir Harold charged the Loyalist front lines with Sir Qarl Khorman and their young Lord Pyrseus Casterwood himself. Sir Harold cut down many of House Flint’s knights in a desperate attempt to capture Lord Henry Flint. Once Lord Pyrseus had captured Lord Flint, he sued for peace with the crown, and House Casterwoods forces returned to their lands in Eastern Thronfeld without resistance.
Harold is conflicted about his role in the rebellion, but he wholeheartedly regrets his inaction during the Seven Year Orc War. Lord Pyrseus ordered his knights to protect their own lands and to refuse their King’s call. Harold lies awake at night wondering how many innocent lives were lost because of the feud between his Lord and his King. Sir Harold is also one of the most decorated tourney knights in the kingdom. During a tournament in 714AV, he famously unseated Sir Haytham Blythe in a joust that lasted 21 rounds. As his body has aged, Harold has participated in fewer tournements, but he remains as sharp as he ever was.
Sir Qarl Khorman, (born 689AV) is a knight living in the lands of House Casterwood. His father Jeshua Khorman fled from slavery in Kalarocco and worked as a farmhand for Lord Corbery, a vassal of House Casterwood. In 699AV, two men and a woman, carrying a baby, asked Jeshua to see the Lord Corbery. They brandished a signed invitation from Corbery himself, so Jeshua escorted them to his Lord’s hall. Later that day, Qarl, who was just 10 years old, saw the men rob and kill Lord Corbery. Qarl ran and told his father what happened and Jeshua grabbed his axe and confronted the guests in the storage barn. The men attacked Jeshua, so he killed them both. The woman grabbed Qarl and Qarl bit her hand to get free. The woman yelled at the boy in a deep voice, revealing that she was actually a man. Qarl grabbed his slingshot and launched a stone into the man’s eye and he dropped dead.
Jeshua picked up the baby and removed it’s ragged brown swaddle to reveal a fine linen robe on the boy. Just then, trumpets sounded around the barn. The party of thieves had been tracked by Lord Tyus Casterwood’s men to the barn. Jeshua presented the knights with the child and reported that the men who came with the boy, and killed Lord Corbin, were dead in the storage barn. The Knights took the child and rode back to their Lord. A week later, Lord Tyus and a host of knights appeared at the farm. Lord Tyus announced that Jeshua had rescued his son, young Pyrseus, and killed his kidnappers. He knighted Jeshua on the spot.
When he learned that Qarl had killed one of the men, he knighted the boy as well. The Khormans were informed that Lord Corbery had orchestrated the kidnapping and that he was likely killed in a renegotiation gone wrong. Lord Corbery’s lands were annexed, but his keep and the immediate surrounding lands were gifted to Jeshua and Qarl, making them landed knights. They took the Corbery sigil, a grey and gold hawk, as their own, because they didn’t have the money to change all the banners.
Qarl worked as a page in the Lion’s Den for 6 years and trained with the knights there day and night. When Qarl was 18, his father died of a fever, and Qarl returned to the newly named Khorman’s Keep. Qarl participated as a rebel in the battle of Brother’s Blood in 718AV and fought side by side with the young Lord Pyrseus and Sir Harold Poole as they battled their way to capture Lord Henry Flint in order to avoid calamity and to sue for peace.
Qarl is extremely loyal to House Casterwood, and though he is an older knight, he remains one of their deadliest servants. In his younger years, he enjoyed participating in tournaments. He remains especially gifted in a joust and the melee, though it takes a much bigger prize these days to get him in front of the crowds. He also has a profound hatred for the Vieran, which stems from his family’s northern crossing of the Bloody March. They met a band of Vieran Guerillas and as the fled, a Vieran arrow struck his mother, killing her.
These two knights represent the tight grip that House Casterwood has developed over even the lesser houses in the East of Thronfeld. Liberating these lands will be one thing for the Young King Davian, but converting the inhabitants will be a battle in and of itself.

The sealing technique is a widely used method common to many cultures whose origin is lost in the mists of time. In general, a seal is a hieroglyph or symbol with a mystical or magical meaning. Angelic seals generally contain the name of the angel, the order to which it belongs, the symbols associated with it, which give access to the angel's communication and protection. Each angel or archangel has its own name and each name indicates the reason for the existence of that angel. In some traditions it is thought that angels are nothing more than emanations of the thought or needs of God. In others, however, it is believed that except the greater angels the rest are the spirits living beings who have lived a worthy life. Angels exist in many better known religious traditions. In each tradition there are more or less clear differences both on the existence of some archangels / angels and on their creation or even quotation. Very often during the councils or assemblies to discuss their existence some archangels / angels have been "downgraded" or even eliminated from the traditions. Some of them over the centuries have been confused with each other due to the translations and translations between various languages.

La tecnica della sigillazione è un metodo molto usato e comune a molte culture la cui origine si perde nella notte dei tempi.
In generale, un sigillo è un geroglifico o simbolo con un significato mistico o magico.
I sigilli angelici sono contengono, in genere, il nome dell’angelo, l’ordine a cui appartiene, i simboli ad esso associato, che danno accesso alla comunicazione e protezione dell’angelo.
Ogni angelo o arcangelo ha un suo nome e ogni nome indica il motivo dell’esistenza di tale angelo.
In alcune tradizioni si pensa che gli angeli non siano altro che emanazioni del pensiero o delle necessita di Dio.
In altre invece si crede che tranne gli angeli maggiori il resto siano gli spiriti esseri viventi che hanno vissuto una vita degna.
Gli angeli esistono in molte tradizioni religiose più conosciute.

Viseu es una ciudad portuguesa, capital del distrito de Viseu, en la región Centro y subregión de Dão-Lafões. Tiene casi 100 000 habitantes. Es la capital de la antigua provincia de Beira Alta.Según la leyenda de la ciudad, en pleno proceso de reconquista, un miembro de un grupo de guerrilleros llegados a la ciudad por el lado oriental, donde se juntan los ríos Pavia y Dao pregunto que viso (vejo) eu? (¿qué veo yo?) y de esta pregunta nacería el nombre de la ciudad. En verdad, el nombre Viseu viene del nombre romano de la ciudad, Beseo.
Otra leyenda, más verosímil, sugiere que aquí ha vivido un rey llamado Don Ramiro II, probablemente Ramiro II de León que de viaje a otras tierras conoció a Sara, hermana de Alboazar, rey del castillo del Gaia. Ramiro se enamoró de esta dama con pasión infinita que acabo raptando. El hermano de la doncella, en venganza rapto a la esposa del rey, Doña Urraca. Herido en el orgullo Ramiro escogió en Vieu los mejores guerreros para que le acompañen y penetró sigilosamente en el castillo dejando a los guerreros fuera escondidos en las proximidades. aprovechando que Alboazar iba de caza Ramiro logró encontrar a su esposa, Doña Urraca, que enterada de la traición de su marido rehusó acompañarlo.
Cuando Albozar regresa de cazar Urraca descubre, en venganza, a su marido que es hecho prisionero y mandado ejecutar. Ramiro como último deseo pide morir al son de su bocina y el toque esta es la señal a los guerreros para que ataquen el castillo. Al sexto toque el castillo es rodeado e incendiado por los soldados de Ramiro y Alboazar muere en la lucha.2
A continuación, al regresar de barco, Doña Urraca se lamentó a su marido de que Alboazar era mejor hombre do que Don Ramiro II. El rey, a consejo de sus proprios hijos segundo algunos, la mató y lançó al río en Vila Praia de Âncora.
Otra versión de esta leyenda llama anacronicamente Wamba al rey cristiano.
This is my 9th entry to Colossal Castle Contest XIV. At first I wasn’t sure if I would build anything for the Historic Illumination category, but then decided it would be a good opportunity to try my hand at a mosaic. The design is based off of this image. It was quite a challenging build process, more frustrating than rewarding really.
One of Mitgardia’s most iconic sigils, the bear paw represents the guild’s courage, strength, and ferocity.

El Buho Cafe o cárabo café también conocido como, búho moteado, lechuza café, lechuza de cola larga o lechuza estriada es una especie de ave strigiforme de la familia de los estrígidos
El búho café es una especie residente y estrictamente nocturna, rara vez se ve durante el día (Ridgely y Gwynne 1989). Es una de las especies de búhos más ampliamente distribuidas y comunes en los Neotrópicos. Regularmente solitaria o en parejas. Durante el día puede descansar en parejas o en grupos familiares a alturas medias de árboles frondosos cercanos a cuerpos de agua. Captura su alimento a lo largo de bordes de bosque, y áreas semi abiertas. Sus nidos se han registrado en huecos naturales de árboles durante la temporada de secas y principios de la temporada de lluvias (Stiles et al 1989, Gerhardt et al. 1994b). La puesta es de dos huevos. Se han reportado hasta 274 diferentes posaderos diurnos (Gerhardt et al. 1994b).
En El Salvador es comun verlo en las faldas del volcan de San Salvador, como en las quebradas que desde alli bajan hacia la ciudad, bastante comun verlo en el Eco parque el Espino, Parque Bicentenario, Parque Denninger La Libertad y quiza en la mayoria de areas protegidas de El Salvador

Un comportamiento sigiloso:
A diferencia de otros pájaros carpinteros, el carpintero lineado es un ave bastante tímida y sigilosa. Prefiere observar desde la distancia antes de interactuar con otras aves o humanos. Su naturaleza cautelosa lo convierte en un maestro del camuflaje, utilizando las ramas y troncos de los árboles para esconderse de los depredadores.
Unas patas diseñadas para la verticalidad:
Las patas del carpintero lineado son una de sus características más notables. Poseen dos dedos hacia adelante y dos hacia atrás, lo que le permite agarrarse con firmeza a la corteza de los árboles. Sus garras largas y curvas le dan un agarre excepcional, incluso en superficies verticales. Sigil - Three Headed Dragon
Motto "Fire and Blood"
After watching the awesome Game of Thrones series I became slightly obsessed with each of the House's and their identity or sigil.
Having found the houses and their representative sigils. I set about creating a vector for each one of them and creating a poster. I hope you like them as much as I do.
A spark is struck, a light is lit and then by will of whit a symbol stroke becomes a token fashioned a sigil charged to form what cannot be spoken. The language of the angels charms the elements into creation. The messengers of old came forth delivering wisdom in concentration and knowledge in extraction. Of the moment we have our hand in symmetry by eye guided to give our moulding the cunning charm of making. We stand with all that we have and we charge ourselves to fulfil the accomplishments we want, need, desire and fortuitously find. The path is full of new bright opportunities that have the potential of rising further and filling out with the hearty breath of life, a vehicle for the biddable pneuma that makes without question answers all test and fuels all visions of likeness of man and mechanical of beasts in chariot alignment to deliver the ways we will ever wander and seek and find and hold true and dear as we range in and over, hovering and burrowing through air and earth within the essence of fire and of water at times without time and at no time out of time.

Take an ink, have a keyboard either virtual, or real, use a picture, choose an icon create a symbol structure and make more far reaching messengers than there ever were before. There needs no letterbox within the door no welcome mat upon the floor. If lettering be your thing then look to shapes and style your communication with either much florid grace and most fanciful flair, or strip it bare and back to basics all fonts answer their linguistical mother creatrix. A light within the hand can illuminate the sky and reveal a darkened land if you wish it can cut a theme and share a dream. The message of the here and now can all die and yet somehow it might in on and off in zero, one and none with notions of the twain find a canvas to out strip time upon. One letter bright, lost into the night if caught in camera’s sight might in course of history beyond imagining be either a cluster of information regarded as worth saving, or accidentally overlooked deleting and so be held in a messenger’s repository for longer from this light extinguished on that night has as a history whilst we emboldened make our life in strikes and strokes that form our message and make our creative passage the journey that we choose for it to be.
