3 days ago I took this foto on the road, An old man was finding the address, he was unaware when I took his foto, and you can watch behind the man near the wall I added my pencil drawing of Bruce willis. I hope you will like the cycle of Pakistan.

The great stone-curlew or great thick-knee (Esacus recurvirostris) is a large wader which is a resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh into South-east Asia.

This species prefers gravel banks along rivers or large lakes, and also beaches. It is mainly nocturnal or crepuscular like other stone-curlews, but can frequently be seen foraging during the day, moving slowly and deliberately, with occasional short runs. It tends to be wary and flies off into the distance ahead of the observer, employing powerful, rather stiff wingbeats. The call is a wailing whistle, given mainly at night, as with other birds in this family. The great thick-knee eats crabs, large insects, and other animal prey. A single egg is laid in a bare scrape on the open shingle.

I would like to tell you why I write some lines as story? I had been write stories in a Pakistani very famous Urdu Magazine but I left they edited very badly my stories and did not give me money. I am so happy in Flickr I can write some line for you.Read about this foto First time I went to a village alone and I took a wrong bus, but at last I reached the village. 12 years ago I have been work in a factory and I met a man in the factory he had been work with me. last years I think 10 July 2011 I made a plane to meet him, I have a tiny idea about his village, so i took a wrong bus and went to his village 35 km far to my town. He was shocked to see me many years ago, He welcomed me with open arms, he shown me his cows, hen and fields, and he told me he gave his fields to a man on rent. In this foto you can see a man he had took his fields as rent and grown Guava fruit. He made a hut and lived in the hut very hot summer I said You care the fruits but peoples can steal your fruits in night. He said He has a dog and in night his dog walk openly in the garden. I requested him to shot fotos , he did not mind and I took his fotos . I seen he had a earthen bowl and pitcher, I remember I had a tiny pitcher when I was a kid and I took the pitcher in the fridge for cold water .After the fotos he was so happy and he gave 3kg fresh Guavas as gift . I did not forget my first alone and lovely visit. Thanks a lot

Mountains, rivers, fields and birds, in a single frame, is'nt it amazing? It's a junction of three rivers.

It's been almost ten years I am shooting at country side of Sialkot. And thanks God people started noticing the wonderful beauty of Sialkot after seeing my pics at www.flickr.com/photos/mirzairfan

Now tourists and photographers across the country are visiting here. It's heaven for landscape lovers, bird watchers and photographers. I wish this area to be declared as National Park.

It is hard to imagine that his place can reach over 40 degrees Celsius in summer but in mid-winter ir might drop to minus at times. Although it looks barren and cool now it can be very green and bright in spring and summer. The winters in Punjab can be quite cold and biting.

Marala is an unofficial wetland and during the winter thousands of Bar-headed Geese, Greylag Geese, Shelducks, Mallards, Pintail, Spoonbill as well as Black Storks, Common Cranes, Eurasian Bitterns, Pallas Gull's, Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier all winter here. Many of the common farmland, wetland, scrub and forest birds that breed in the region are also found here.

The Marala headworks is situated at the Chenab River near the city of Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan. It is a massive hydro engineering project and is used to control water flow and flood control in river Chenab. Chenab is a 1,086 km (675 mi) long river which originates in the Kulu and Kangra Districts of Himachal Pradesh in India and is fed by the tributaries Chandra and Bagha as it enters Jammu & Kashmir near Kishtwar. After cutting across the Pir Panjal range, it enters the Sialkot District in Pakistan where the Marala Barrage was built across the river in 1968 with a maximum discharge of 1.1 million ft³/s (31,000 m³/s). Two major water channels originate at the Marala headworks—the Marala-Ravi Link Canal and the Upper Chenab Canal. Proposals are under consideration to build Mangla Marala Link Canal to overcome any shortage of water in future.

Head Marala is also a picnic spot, wildlife sanctuary and unprotected wetland. Many people come here and enjoy the landscape and natural beauty.

Dedicating to those who love travelling...

I was looking at some old photographs and I thought to make a new one. Women of my family, this image has a long story behind; Left to right image of my Grandfather's Mother taken at Gurdaspur, India ca. 1928 then Image of my Grandmother after partition of Indo-Pak taken in 1965 then my Mother's who belongs to Kashmir but came to Lahore, Pakistan after marriage and then myself reflecting in an old mirror brought by my grandfather so I thought to capture whole story in one, The Remembrance and Reflection together.

Story: on 25 Dec 2011 I made a plane to shot some fotos of Potters, I wanted to watch How the potters make the pot. I requested to my Designing teacher please call his friend and tell him , we want watch the making of pot. He foned and his friend said come, We took a local van on X-mas we were sit with driver in front seat. I was so excited when we crossed the city I watched an old man with some animals with his smoke pipe, I Said to my teacher I am taking his foto he is a shy man he said plz dont Its a public place but I did not obey, I said to Driver Please stop here I want take a foto , He gave me some movement and I took this Lovely foto all of you. The Black Ibis only visits Pakistan (Mostly marshes around Karachi, the Indus Delta and Lower Sind) during the Monsoon Season (August to October). It is a rare bird in Pakistan and in the past has occasionally bred. Roberts stated that in 1923 the Black Ibis was a common bird in what is now Pakistan but has declined dramatically over the years. The HBW states about its distribution that:

Distribution:

Pakistan (SE Sind), Nepal and India S to Tamil Nadu and E to NE Bangladesh; doubtful old record from Arakan (W Myanmar). Not globally threatened but believed to be declining. The population was estimated to be around 10,000 birds in the early 1990s. It is still locally common in India and S Nepal, where censuses yielded respectively 654 and 134 birds in Jan 1990, and 1360 and 80 in Jan 1991. In India most common in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Orissa; in Jan 1987, 200 birds at Chandpata L, Madhya Pradesh, and 250 in wetlands of C and E Saurashtra, Gujarat. In Nepal flocks of up to 40 birds still occur at Chitwan National Park, Kosi Barrage and Kosi Tappu Reserve. In Pakistan common in the 1920s with large flocks recorded, but now only irregular visitor, occurring mainly during the monsoon. Appears to have been severely affected by schemes of wetland conversion and agricultural development.

So far from a First Record but still a very rare one within Pakistan.
