Previously unpublished shot captured in May 2019. It has been a very dry April this year and now, as May begins, the April showers have arrived. Enjoy!

A break in the drought, first rain in weeks.

The afternoon started bright and sunny with a chance of showers. I was exploring the overlook of Holman Spring Canyon when that chance rather quickly materialized, much to my delight. Showing up sometimes pays off.

it was foggy with light showers and very cold, but not as cold as the midwest. Multnomah falls is beautiful and magical during the winter. definitely wide angle lens to fully capture the waterfalls, tripod and traction tires for safety

Just as the sun dropped below the horizon, the light left the hills but the clouds lit up. We were supposed to get a violent thunderstorm, but got this gentle shower instead. This view was from my second story deck in Montpelier, Idaho

Although similar to my previous photo, until I looked closely and processed this raw image, I did not notice the meteor showers. Nikon D750 with a f2.8 14mm Rokinon lens. I brightened the Milky Way a little to produce more contrast in the night sky.

In front of a line with thundery showers a few isolated ones developed. They were rather weak, but nice to watch.

This Cumulonimbus looks small on the photograph, but realize that it was shot with a 14mm lens on full frame....

This shot is from the same evening as the rainbow I posted a few days ago. This is the true color of the sky from that sunset. I did not process this photo in any other way except to sharpen it. It was pouring rain, the sun was shining brightly and there was a massive rainbow behind me.

Someone mentioned that I could see up to 200 meteors per hour. I certainly saw many of them last night.

While I was waiting for them I thought that this might be a fun exercise to play around with in Photoshop. It felt appropriate. I copied 25 images and zoomed in on each one of them. Then I used the Multiply Filter and added the sky back to a signal original image. Enjoy!

A blend of 3 shots to get 4 meteors in 1 picture. I like my composition and the night out. But watching the Perseids shower was less impressive as I thought it would be :-)

The pure excitement of these elephants arriving at the waterhole, for a drink and a refreshing splash, was a shear joy to behold. The dust shower was so intense at times that one could barely see the elephants through it. Kruger National Park, South Africa.

This was just after taking my morning shower and just before stepping out of the bathroom.. I noticed this footprint. Was quick enough to grab my camera and capture it before it gets distorted!!

You've seen this shot before If you've followed my photos for a while. I put it in the comments of another shot I took in Seattle a while ago. I just decided to post it "for reals".

This was taken way way WAY back during summer. I know you're jealous of this weather.

Condensation on patterned glass window.

In spite of its surreal look this was a fairly straightforward shot of condensation on the patterned glass window of my bathroom. It was post processed in Topaz filters: first in B&W Effects and then in Glow. No layer masking was used - the pattern is driven by the contrast and luminosity of the original.

I wanted to retain the main in-focus area of droplets and I adjusted the filter parameters so this area was least affected by the filter (I guess because the image contrast was highest there).

The original is a macro of a patch of glass about 1 inch high, so the droplets are quite tiny.

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did its making :)

Thanks for looking!

Rain showers come and go these days. It's great to see them come over the water and sometimes grow in strength because of the temperature of the water.
