This hill of some 400 metres elevation is actually a volcanic lava dome created on flat ground when earthquakes struck the area in 1943 and 1945.Despite thick snow on the ground around,the hill is fairly clear and steam can be seen rising near the top.

This tiny derelict house has since been demolished and in it's place an equally tiny parking lot has been constructed.

Nature's autumn artistry is on full display in this brilliant ginkgo tree. Like a living sculpture, its branches stretch forth adorned with a cloak of golden fans - each leaf a miniature burst of sunshine.
The ginkgo itself is an ancient tree species that has persisted through eons.
