I was quite surprised when I saw the result of this shot today - I zoomed inside my dark red tulip and this was the result - I expected something black and yellow - it was a lovely shock!!!

Shockingly, this stack of CD's (30 years this October since the first CD's/CD players on release to public) Is only 1 tenth of the number I would need to back up my hard drives, Which is why they are most definitely becoming obsolete as a storage medium.

With Captain Knight ensnared by the Blacktron Bio-synthetic Creature and Nova Team's ineffective blasters, Lieutenant Sydney Stargazer jumps into action. Silently praying the engineers of Arcturus Outpost triple-checked the insulation capabilities of their space suits, she grabs a live power conduit that had fallen from the ceiling. With a thrust she shoves the live conduit into the side of creature. With a flash, ultra-high voltage electrical current courses through the alien-robot hybrid. It makes an ear piercing scream as it lashes out in pain...

Guess who got Pacific Rim for Christmas! I kind of feel like a disgrace to the Geek name because I never saw it in theaters. I know, Shocking isn't it?

Like many fans of the film, I instantly fell in love with the Russian Jaeger, Cherno Alpha. It's just 2,412 Tons of pure badassery! So of coarse I had to build one.

This MOC is in Microfig scale and stands in at 2' 11" tall. It took roughly 70 hours to build. I didn't keep track of the part count, but if I were to wager a guess, i'd say it contains no-less than 5000 pieces.

Beach, Ball of Light. Grange Jetty, Adelaide, Ball of Light. They seem to be becoming one in the same.

This beach is just by home, and the weather is starting to turn now. But this sighting of the Ball of Light was in the depth of summer, this was about 4 in the morning. It was warm, and beautiful.

This Ball of Light was simply happy, I knew that it was, I really felt it.

I hope you enjoy the Ball of Light. They are my companions now.

With full diamond shock-wave studded re-heat, fabulous Romanian Air Force Mikoyan Mig-21 LanceR-C '6824' from Escadrila 861 blasts away from Fairford's runway to display during RIAT 2019

According to Wiki:

From 1962 onwards the Romanian Air Force took delivery of their first Mig-21 'Fishbeds'

Just over 30 years later the fleet underwent a modernisation programme via Elbit Systems with their Mig-21MF/MF-75's becoming the LanceR-C Air Superiority version

With another 20 years or so passing these ancient warriors will soon be retired in favour of pre-owned F-16's

For bird photography I set my camera to reduced saturation and very low contrast, but even with those measures and heavily overcast conditions, the brilliance of this bird was a challenge.

Shocking isn't it?

Toting twin missiles Swedish Air Force F13 Wing Saab JA-37 Viggen 37319/59 sears the air with her afterburner shockwaves as she blasts away from Farnborough's runway during the 1982 SBAC Air show.

In the event of war Viggens were designed to be operated not only from airfields but also highways and forest roads, a unique tandem-wheeled main undercarriage and that double delta wing giving them 'short-field' performance and agility.

Two single seaters attended that year - with this one performing the Viggen's characteristic role demo - burning away after an incredibly short take-off, fast and furious passes against the murky skies and then on landing stopping short with full reverse thrust and reversing off to the edge of the runway to 'park' - simulating it's off-airfield capabilities.

Now retired from service and replaced by the Gripen, the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight still keeps one airworthy - visiting these shores during recent Airshow seasons.

This is an actual photograph. The first actual photograph I've uploaded in well over a year (I'm not counting my dubious - but enthusiastic - CGI obviously). Shocking really. A serious dereliction of duty!

Nice one to start again with though. Adorable miniature beast of burden in the Longnor area.

Frenchman Maurice Houdaille is credited with inventing the first shock absorbers to take advantage of the excellent cushioning qualities of hydraulic fluid. He received his first patent in 1907, and his products eventually became standard equipment on the immensely popular Model A Ford in 1927 and manufactured by Houde Engineering Corporation of Buffalo, NY.

The first production hydraulic dampers to act on the main leaf spring movement were probably those based on an original concept by Maurice Houdaille patented in 1908 and 1909. These used a lever arm which moved hydraulically damped vanes inside the unit.

The main advantage over the friction disk dampers was that it would resist sudden movement but allow slow movement, whereas the rotary friction dampers tended to stick and then offer the same resistance regardless of speed of movement.

Monroe built the first original equipment hydraulic shocks for Hudson in 1933. By the late 1930s the double-acting tubular shock absorber became common on cars made in the United States. In Europe, lever-type hydraulic shocks prevailed into the '60s. They resembled the Hartford friction shock, but used hydraulic fluid instead of a friction pad.
