The 45-meter-high red lighthouse on the extreme northern point of the Wadden island of Texel is the symbol of this island.
When the tide is out the sandbanks become explored, which pose a danger to shipping.
Together with the other lighthouses of the Dutch Wadden Islands, they mark the shallows off the coast for the busy shipping traffic to and from Hamburg and Delfzijl.
this is at the incredible Skrunda, which i thoroughly blogged (haha) and also thoroughly enjoyed, over here on the SLuggle .
i had several names and poems in mind for this but the heavy sky, combined with our poor planet's current supply chain woes made this one preordained.
i did enjoy dabbling with b&w for a change but color and blue skies will hopefully return soon!

Ein Riese am Haken. Der Hamburger Hafenschlepper Fairplay IX (IMO 9725093) hat das Containerschiff COSCO SHIPPING LIBRA (IMO9783538) am Haken und assistiert beim Anlegemanöver am Container Terminal Tollerort. Das Containerschiff ist 400 m lang und 60 m breit. 17.273 TEU´s (20 Fuß Standartcontainer) können transportiert werden. Der Schleppen ist nur 30 m lang, 14 m breit und arbeitet mit 8.160 PS.

The Hamburg harbor tug Fairplay IX (IMO 9725093) has the container ship COSCO SHIPPING LIBRA (IMO9783538) on the hook and is assisting with the berthing maneuver at the Container Terminal Tollerort. The container ship is 400 m long and 60 m wide. 17,273 TEUs (20-foot standard containers) can be transported. The tow is only 30 m long, 14 m wide and works with 8,160 hp.

Utilising pareidolia in photography via the caricature imagined in everyday objects, vessels and a plethora of other potential artefacts, was something I always tried to do, but was never really successful, when I caught these two vessels and noticed the two holes in the bow of the Finntrader (Finnlines), they looked eyes (obviously) from the perspective of the smaller craft, kind of cute in a way.
Had I known shipping would be these fruitful in producing photos I would've done it years ago!

PS: Oh and an unintentional serendipity with the colours of the Finntrader and the crew of the yacht. (Love it when that happens).

You must forgive me for posting the occasional image of the Golden Gate Bridge. I like this view of the bridge at sunset because it shows how busy the San Francisco Bay is: one tanker is entering the Bay while another is leaving, and a small fishing vessel makes its way between the two. And then, of course, there is the bridge against a colorful sky, but no fog!
