This is the shifter turret in my new Miata. For those, like me, that had no idea what a shifter turret is before today, it's the thing that the stick shift comes out of. Notice how it is not full to the top with gear oil. As far as I can tell, that's not a terrible thing. But the intertron had instructions on how to service it, and I had gear oil, so I filled it as suggested. Shifting is actually a little more smooth. I also cleaned my mass airflow sensor and adjusted my off-computer idle today, and the car is MUCH happier! Thank you internets!
