Shell Island is part of a peninsula it only becomes an island at high tide ,the road to it is a tidal causeway (the stones in the shot mark the edge of the road) ...here the tide is coming in submerging the road
Photos taken on Jan 11, 2009 of a former Shell Gasoline Station. This station has gone through a series of owners and changes. About 5 years ago, it was cleaned up to its current appearance, looking more like how it originally appeared when it operated as a Shell Station. Located at Vermont and Venice Blvd. in Los Angeles California.

Shell Keeley Shootā¦
I photographed the FABULOUS Shell Keeley recently. We met up and had tea at the Rococo Coffee House, in Liverpool. It was the first time I had met Shell, but we had been in touch via msgs on Facebook and such, so it didnāt really feel like our first meeting. I had wanted to photograph her because she simply looks divine, in her genuine vintage clothes PLUS she is the sweetest lady. So here we are, sat by the window in this rococo styled coffee shop, having a good old chin-wag, topics ranging from Vincent Price to Bette Davis, it wasnāt long before our cups were empty. So I set up my lights & we shot away.
We then packed up, Shell made a quick out-fit change (1930ās German red dress), and we were gone.
NEXT UPā¦
OUT DOOR SHOTS
We had a little wander about, taking pictures with just natural daylight. Stunning results with backlighting from the sun. Shell has the BEST eyes, so I took lots of close-up shots with an aperture of F/1.7 at 100 ISO, with my Pentax manual focus lens.
Really happy with the results, and you wouldnāt believe it was Shellās first ever photo session. Beautiful pictures of a beautiful person, with the most impeccable manners. A true lady.

Shell Eco-marathon Asia - the Urban Concept class. Over several days, teams make as many attempts as possible to travel the furthest on the equivalent of one litre of fuel. Cars drive a fixed number of laps around the circuit at a set speed. Organisers calculate their energy efficiency and name a winner in each class and for each energy source. (photo by Ben Cho)
Shell Structure
A snail's shell is secreted by glands in its mantle rim and consists of three layers:
* hypostracum - the innermost layer, closest to the snail's body
* ostracum - middle, shell building layer, consists of prism-shaped calcium carbonate crystals and organic (proteid) molecules
* periostracum - outermost layer, consists of conchin (a mixture of organic compounds), gives the shell color
Shell Function
The snail's shell serves to protect its internal organs, prevent water loss, provide shelter from cold, and protect the snail from predators.

I'm sure there is a scientific term for this structure, but it looks like a fin, so shell fin it is...
Shell Cottage built in the sand dunes at Freshwater West beach in Pembrokeshire for the final Harry Potter film.
My first products in 3D printed ceramics were the Ceramic Coasters and this time I wanted to create more of classical and beautiful product with a simple purpose.
Inspired by the curves, flowing surfaces and gentle ridges found on sea shells, I created a shape that is a continous surface which is curls around and inside itself to create an object that naturally holds a candle.
The candle holder is made to fit the IKEA Jubla crown candles and most other crown candles.
