It took me a while to appreciate both the taste and the look of the Pistachio nut, but now I can’t do without my weekly bag! Still, they aren’t exactly lookers though.

Does the little bit on the end of this shell look like a little shell eye to you too?
I like to think that there is a whole little world inside with little shell creatures looking at live feeds from the "eye" on little TV screens, analysing response tactics to the environment on their little shell computers, initiating their outer shell of silence until any potential danger has passed, and then cheering and jumping about and giving each other little shell creature high-fives. That little hole in the spirals under the eye is their emergency escape hatch I reckon. In an emergency, the ConchChime goes off and they throw a little shell creature ladder out the hole and make their escape while whatever they are escaping from is busy at the main entrance. There may have been a little hero shell creature stay behind to distract whoever they were escaping from, maybe named the Coral Crusader. I hope he/she made it out safely! Must be a tough life being a little shell creature, I'm exhausted just thinking about it!
PS - I like shells, but then again, who doesn't!

A vase with flowers, all made of shells and mosaics, in the Shell House in Tresco Abbey Gardens, on the Isles of Scilly. I loved the gardens, especially the exotic flowers (you can see some of those in my album 'Isles of Scilly'). The path leading up to The Shell House is in my next photo.

A small shell trapped in a block of ice. The entrance is also full of ice, but it's so clear you can barely tell.

Love shells and sometimes collect them. I like the central apex of the shell that make the shell somewhat resemble an eye.

In 1929 a competition was held between five architects to determine the designer of a prestigious new office block to house the headquarters of the mineral oil company, and Royal Dutch Shell subsidiary, Rhenania-Ossag. The victor was the German architect and professor Emil Fahrenkamp
After almost two years in construction, Shell-Haus opened in 1932.
I nearly overlooked this little shell, but as I looked at the driftwood and its beautiful bark, my eye came to rest on it. It was about half a centimetre in diameter.
Und es geht weiter. Heute wieder mit einem Ergebnis vom Workshop mit Ronny Behnert in Berlin. Es ist schon lange her, dass ich die letzte echt schwarze und etwas aufwendigere Bearbeitung gepostet habe. Aber dieses Motiv schreit förmlich danach. An Ronny geht dabei insbesondere großer Dank an die coole Idee für diese Perspektive, auf die ich selber so wohl nie gekommen wäre.

Looking Close... on Friday: Seashells &/or Snail Shells
(If this is not enough shell I have other options)
An early morning trip to the tide pools was a photographer's delight. The low tide exposed various sea life that was usually hidden by the ocean's waters. I'm guessing these shelled sea creatures are filter feeders. However I've not been able to discover the identity of these ocean creatures. Any help would be appreciated.
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 26th of July is "sea shells and/or snail shells". Now, I would not classify myself as a seaside sort of person. I like visiting the seaside, but I would probably prefer to live a little further inland. I always enjoy a promenade along the corniche or a wander along the sand, and whilst I am doing the latter, I collect shells. This made my choice for the theme this week very easy. However, you may be wondering why these shells are so “surprising”. The surprise is in their size. They may look large, but the largest of all these shells from my collection is only one and a half centimetres in diameter. I do occasionally use them in my miniature tableaus. Rather than sitting in golden sand, they are actually posed in a mound of very special Très Or Sucre Or (golden sugar) imported from France which was a gift to me from a dear friend a few years ago, sprinkled in the middle of a white saucer. Too beautiful to stir into tea, I have used it numerous times for different photographic purposes. I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!
