Found this log covered with sulfur shelf (Laetiporus sulphureus), also known as chicken of the woods mushrooms a couple of days ago when they were just starting to appear. Went back this evening and harvested 14 lbs (6.4 kg). Yum!
Dramatic spring thunderstorm shelf clouds rolled out to sea all day today, including Bondi Beach at sunset.
My study.
It was in the wall when we bought the house, we're not game to put anything on it.

all the books are blank, waiting for the past, the unthought of yet to be conceived, recorded in the past for the future beyond that.

A little later than the first image, the green in the sky really showed and contrasted nice with the orange of the sun
It's so much easier to get organised with my new white studio shelf, I could store all my pretty tin boxes and cardboard boxes and my fave craft books in it.
This mean looking shelf cloud formed on an intensifying thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. Hail and strong winds with frequent lightning followed, and then another cell came trundling down from the NE and brought more of the same.

Boom. After 8 years of missed opportunities, being in the wrong location, being at work, being away, I finally have captured a full on shelf cloud. A monster storm with so many lightning strikes, a dozen captured with my Pluto trigger including this one. #sydneystorms D810 & 14-24mm with Pluto trigger.
Thought you might like to see bits of my home that I never bother photographing. A peek at my shelf of teacups and whatnot.

Using my Fujifilm X-T5, Fujinon 8mm f/3.5 lens, I literally ran up my hill to view this monster of a severe thunderstorm. Within seconds, heavy rains, gusty winds, and lightning were a real threat and I ran for my house just in time. This shelf cloud was nearly overhead when I took this image. The greenish color suggested hail but none was reported. I received just 0.30" because the storm was moving so quickly through town.

Saturday Self Challenge
For this challenge, use any kind of bottle/bottles in a creative way as the subject for your composition. You may process however much or how little as you like.
Three bottles of malt whisky which remain unopened. The one on the left was bought in the Whisky Shop on the harbour front in Oban around 10 years ago, we’d had several ‘tasters’ in the shop and didn’t realise just how much this 50 centilitre bottle was about to cost, £84 later we very carefully carried our package to the car.
The middle bottle was a gift to my husband from a friend who had moved to the West Coast of Scotland a couple of years ago. This looked expensive so it joined the other bottle on the shelf.
The bottle on the right was a gift from our youngest son who had been on a walking trip to Scotland and returned with this. We’ve tried Dalwhinnie before and didn’t really care for it, so it went to join the other two.
I used selective colour on this shot because the wood in the cabinet is more or less the same colour as the whisky, converting the wood to mono gave a better contrast.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - After stopping to get gas in Broadus I had to race to get back ahead of it. I found a spot near Hammond to stop and shoot a time lapse of the approaching shelf cloud.
Captured this majestic shelf cloud near Elgin, Oklahoma late last night just off I-44.
I was on my way back home after a lackluster storm chase. While driving, radar indicated a supercell was beginning to become outflow dominant to the north. Saw the developing shelf cloud in the distance and decided to get off.
Ended up with a lucky shot! Persistence pays off!
As a severe thunderstorm was approaching, this well defined shelf cloud suggested that some interesting weather was not far behind.
Took me several hours to set up, and I love the way it turned out!

High tide and sunrise were set to happen within minutes of each other this morning so I was hoping to catch the tide washing over this rocky shelf with a colourful sunrise illuminating the sky in the background. It didn't quite work out like that...
I managed to complete another thing on my house to do list. I hung this shelf that I found last January at an antique show. It was $12 and I've got it hanging right next to my computer table where I spend hours doing homework. This is a really cheerful thing to enjoy while I'm working.
A bunch of little projects need to be completed for this display. Mainly sewing lots of dresses and repainting that small blue bench that I found for 0.50 at a thrift store. I would like to add some more dollhouse miniature accessories to jazz it up, too.
When a shelf can store away some clouds, I may inlay the sky to them in ideal composition.

After midnight... It was super late & I had to work the next morning early.... Ouch
But I'm a trooper when it comes to storms. No severe warning on this storm til it moved into Buffalo County from the due northwest.
I could see this shelf cloud out for miles. But it honestly just sat there moving about 5 mph for about and hour. Took forever just to get a few snaps... But it was worth it!
