"Black and white are the colors of photography. To me they symbolize the alternatives of hope and despair to which mankind is forever subjected."
Robert Frank
"It's really easy to get colors right. It's really hard to get black - and neutrals - right. Black is certainly a color but it's also an illusion."
Donna Karan
"Without black, no color has any depth. But if you mix black with everything, suddenly there's shadow - no, not just shadow, but fullness. You've got to be willing to mix black into your palette if you want to create something that's real."
Amy Grant

"Black is real sensation, even if it is produced by entire absence of light. The sensation of black is distinctly different from the lack of all sensations."

"I try to construct a picture in which shapes, spaces, colors, form a set of unique relationships, independent of any subject matter. At the same time I try to capture and translate the excitement and emotion aroused in me by the impact with the original idea."

“All sorrows are less with bread.”
Miguel de Cervantes, Spanish author, (1547-1616)
"Bread is the warmest, kindest of all words. Write it always with a capital letter, like your own name."

He’s seen too much.
Fought hard. Loved harder.
And now?
He naps — right in the middle of the road, like a retired gangster with nothing left to prove.
Crumbs at his paws.
Sun on his face.
And that smirk? That’s earned.

The Winter Sentinel: A Red Squirrel’s Survival
This evocative series of photorealistic images captures the resilient and enchanting life of a red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) amidst a pristine, snow-covered winter forest. The collection showcases a masterclass in cinematic lighting, blending wide-angle vistas of frozen pine woodlands with intimate, high-detail macro shots. Each frame reveals the intricate textures of the squirrel’s russet fur, delicate frost-tipped whiskers, and expressive dark eyes.
From the dynamic energy of a mid-air leap through powdery snow to the quiet, focused moments of foraging for pine cones on ice-dusted branches, the series highlights the ethereal beauty of nature’s struggle against the elements. The use of shallow depth of field and soft, golden-hour sunlight creates a magical atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of woodland wildlife in sub-zero temperatures.

I carry my camera almost everyday to work. You never know when you get a good shot. Anyways, I was experimenting with Manual Focusing with Live View. I find it really helpful when I open my nifty fifty to its max aperture. And that is what I was trying to master; manual focusing at f/1.8.
I tried to get the ring in focus, and I think I got it right. Well, almost. I feel I could have gotten it better. Maybe some other day...

Your frailer part, the breaches made,
In that fair lodging still more clear,
Make the bright guest, your soul, appear."

In Vietnam and Cambodia, due to French translation, the English term pagoda is a more generic term referring to a place of worship, although pagoda is not an accurate word to describe a Buddhist temple.
The word is first attested for in English in the period c. 1625–35; introduced from the Portuguese pagode, temple, from the Persian butkada (but idol + kada temple, dwelling.) Another etymology, found in many English language dictionaries, is modern English pagoda from Portuguese (via Dravidian), from Sanskrit bhagavati, feminine of bhagavatt "blessed" < bhaga "good fortune." This collection presents a breathtaking cinematic journey through the avian world, capturing the raw essence of diverse species in their most iconic states. From the powerful, sun-drenched silhouette of a golden eagle perched in the highlands to the serene, minimalist grace of a grey heron standing in a morning mist, each image is a masterclass in light, texture, and composition.
The series explores various habitats: the dramatic snowy peaks where raptors soar, the tranquil pink-hued wetlands of wading flamingos, the intricate stick-nests of urban storks, and even the clandestine world of a peregrine falcon overlooking a bokeh-filled city night. Every feather is rendered with hyper-realistic precision, emphasizing the bridge between high-end wildlife photography and the limitless possibilities of digital creation. This portfolio serves as a visual tribute to biodiversity, stillness, and the predatory elegance of birds.

In Roman mythology, Cupid (Latin cupido, meaning "desire") is the god of desire, affection and erotic love. He is the son of the goddess Venus and the god Mars. His Greek counterpart is Eros. He is also known in Latin as Amor ("Love")... He is now in the current culture the personification of love and courtship in general.

"Shut your eyes, wait, think of nothing. Now, open them ... one sees nothing but a great coloured undulation. What then? An irradiation and glory of colour. This is what a picture should give us ... an abyss in which the eye is lost, a secret germination, a coloured state of grace ... loose conciousness. Descend with the painter into the dim tangled roots of things, and rise again from them in colours, be steeped in the light of them."
Paul Cezanne

"The tulips are too excitable, it is winter here.
Look how white everything is, how quiet, how snowed-in
I am learning peacefulness, lying by myself quietly
As the light lies on these white walls, this bed, these hands.
I am nobody; I have nothing to do with explosions..."

He doesn’t bark often.
But when he does, it’s not for attention — it’s to remind the world that silence can still carry weight.
There’s something ancient in his stare.
Not sadness, not joy. Just presence.
Like he’s seen things.
Like he remembers who you used to be.
Black-and-white not for nostalgia,
but because some souls don’t need color to be heard.
I found this wonderful little spot where the aspens meet a meadow on one side and a dried up creek bed on the other... can't wait to try this shot again in color this autumn!
