"But pleasures are like poppies spread,
You seize the flower, it's bloom is shed;
Or, like the snow-fall in the river,
A moment white, then melts forever."

"I love the fall. I love it because of the smells that you speak of; and also because things are dying,
things that you don't have to take care of anymore, and the grass stops growing."

"I welcome this new day.
It is a gift to me, a new creation, a promise of resurrection.
Greetings to the Four Realms, the Goddesses and Gods, and the Kindred of Yore.
I salute the Sun, the Earth, the Seas, and the Sky..."
"With the first gleam of morning rays, the garden is a prism of a thousand hues
refracted in tiny does of crystal dew, a dazzling quilt of millefleur colors covering
the sleeping flower beds."
Duane Michals, The Vanishing Act

Don't go back to sleep."

Great horned owl in flight with impressionistic mood. The light was almost gone when I found these owls, but this image seems to have some snap and should hold your attention at large size. Hopefully! The shape of the body is very unusual for a bird. It looks somewhat like a women would after tightening up on her girdle good and tight. What the heck is a girdle? My mother used to wear one and it went around the waist with a bunch of straps that you cinch down tight to try and gather in and smooth out the lard. Nowadays they just suck out the yellow fat with a suction device.
Any way these birds must weigh a ton and they look that way when they fly off a branch. They don't head straight out but dip down quite a bit before the wings come into play. Shutter speed wound up at 1/60 sec. with a 400mm lens and the iso at 1000.
"I freeze and burn, love is bitter and sweet, my sighs are tempests and my tears are floods, I am in ecstasy and agony, I am possessed by memories of her and I am in exile from myself."

This little guy lives in my koi pond. There is now two of them. He is not hurt at all. This is just an odd position that he has himself in and he was afraid to move in case I saw him... well... I saw him!!!

"Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves."

There are moments he stares out, quietly.
No bark. No tail wag. Just watching.
Like he’s remembering something he never lived.
Or waiting for someone only he can still see.

HYPER-REALISM / PORTRAITS.
Larger scale correlates the image with advertising or political posters. The traditional technique, the classical museum coloring and disregard the standards of photography casts doubt on the commitment to the canons of popular culture.
Early hyper-realistic painting - a portrait of Sasha Chulikov, photographer of Konstantinovskaya Wool factory, Domodedovo. Painting were displayed at the traveling exhibition of artists of the Moscow region in 1986, and (simultaneously with two other works) at the All-Union youth exhibition in March-April 1987 in the Moscow Central Exhibition hall Manege. It was published in album by Alexander Yakimovich "Young artists of the 80's" (1990).
When I was picking up this canvas from the Moscow Regional Union after road shows (`peredvizhnaya` exhibition) during 1986, full-time art critic from Regional Artist`s Union asked: "Is your personage smiling, as if his mother-in-law died?"

The peloton (from French, meaning little ball or platoon and related to the English word pellet), field, bunch or pack is the main group of riders in a road bicycle race. Riders in a group save energy by riding close (drafting or slipstreaming) near (particularly behind) other riders.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away."

Exquisite high-resolution capture of a male Purple Sunbird (Cinnyris asiaticus) in eclipse plumage, delicately feeding on a Snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus). Shot with the Sony A7V and FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS, this image showcases the lens's signature creamy bokeh and the camera's precision AI autofocus. The soft morning light emphasizes the bird’s iridescent teal feathers and the flower's intricate textures, making it ideal for premium editorial use.

"There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment.”
Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever
Alstroemeria, commonly called the Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Alstroemeriaceae. They are all native to South America. Almost all of the species are restricted to one of two distinct centers of diversity, one in central Chile, the other in eastern Brazil. Species of Alstroemeria from Chile are winter-growing plants while those of Brazil are summer-growing. The genus was named after the Swedish baron Clas Alströmer (1736 – 1794) by his close friend Carolus Linnaeus.
"Times like this were special. Memory builders. When something extraordinary happened to a person the kind of things remembered forever after it didn't have to be a life-changing event like a graduation or marriage or birth of a child. It more often was the small things. The sheer joy of summer sunlight on a fragrant flower. The giggle of a toddler. The brush of a lover's fingertips. And the person marks the moment with the flashing insight thinking... This is special. I should remember this."

"Alas," said the mouse, "the whole world is growing smaller every day. At the beginning it was so big that I was afraid, I kept running and running, and I was glad when I saw walls far away to the right and left, but these long walls have narrowed so quickly that I am in the last chamber already, and there in the corner stands the trap that I must run into."
"You only need to change your direction," said the cat, and ate it up."

"And I leave my post of observation and find I have had enough of this outside life; I feel that there is nothing more that I can learn here, either now or at any time. And I long to say a last goodbye to everything up here, to go down into my burrow never to return again, let things take their course, and not try to retard them with my profitless vigils."

"It's almost here - It's safe to say.
I saw a Crocus yesterday -
Its' colors bright - A lovely thing.
My heart Rejoiced! 'Twil soon be Spring!
The winter blues will soon be gone.
And birds will soon burst forth in song.
The coralbells will gently ring.
The Daphne yells "It's almost Spring!"
It's neary here! It's coming fast!
The Robins will appear at last.
Oh Wonderous Joy! I too shall sing!
And join in Nature's "Song for Spring"."

The Winter Sentinel: A Red Squirrel’s Survival
This evocative series of photorealistic images captures the resilient and enchanting life of a red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) amidst a pristine, snow-covered winter forest. The collection showcases a masterclass in cinematic lighting, blending wide-angle vistas of frozen pine woodlands with intimate, high-detail macro shots. Each frame reveals the intricate textures of the squirrel’s russet fur, delicate frost-tipped whiskers, and expressive dark eyes.
From the dynamic energy of a mid-air leap through powdery snow to the quiet, focused moments of foraging for pine cones on ice-dusted branches, the series highlights the ethereal beauty of nature’s struggle against the elements. The use of shallow depth of field and soft, golden-hour sunlight creates a magical atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of woodland wildlife in sub-zero temperatures.
