Happened in my back yard a couple of years ago. This bird sat on the log and finished the meal over a two-hour period. It was interesting to watch it pull and tug away the bite-sized pieces.
Another shot of the Red Kite - this time it was getting ready for a landing and the claws came out...... I couldn't believe the length and sharpness of those talons.
Thanks for the views, comments and faves :)
have a great Wednesday :)

Wembley today (13/05/2023) for the National League Play-off Final between Chesterfield and Notts County. Around 120 coaches came down the M1 for this match which Notts County eventually won on penalties to earn themselves promotion to League 2.
Sharpes Van Hool TX27 Astromega YJ16 EOS is pictured departing the University of Lincoln on 6.6.24, with the Van Hool logo on the blind – though as with last time the blind refused to photograph properly so you can only see the bottom half.
I really think those ‘Angles Morts’ stickers should be on flaps like the Stagecoach school bus signs, because they look daft when randomly slapped onto the side like that.
This is the first Coelioxys Sharp-tailed Bee that I've seen this year. It was in our Staffordshire garden a couple of days ago. I generally see one or two of these a year.
These bees are cleptoparasites of Megachile leafcutter bees. Keep an eye out for them if you have leafcutters nesting in garden bee-hotels.

I had the good fortune of seeing and photographing a Sharp-shinned Hawk today! They are not seen as often as Cooper's Hawks, so it was exciting to see it. The hawk was perched in my neighbor's tree for a good 10-15 minutes. It was incredibly cooperative for photos which was surprising since raptors can flush so easily. Up until today, I had previously only gotten a quick glimpse of one in flight, so it was great to get such good looks at this one.

it`s the light we owe that we can see and recognize. It`s because of our visual habits, that we concentrate on objects and their effects immediately. Light will be accepted as a natural phenomenon. All what we know about objects depends on comparison. This is true especially for light and colors - where we compare contrasts. by darkness we know what brightness means....
