Milkshake and several friends stopped by the farm today while walking around the nearby reservoir. He's very large and would make a good sled dog.
This flamingo was just in the water and was shaking off it’s feathers and wings.

Nothing as satisfying as a good shake to get rid of all the water that has accumulated on a heavy mane after a rain storm, as this large male lion is showing. Just prior, he was hunkered down in the tall grasses on the savanna in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

A grebe does a little shake after climbing out of the water.
looking forward to spring and summer with these guys and hoping to be able to photograph some young grebes this year.
A drake Mallard washes up, dunking his head under the water repeatedly and shaking off the excess. It's nesting season and he has to look his best!!

A second trip out to see the Foxes. The wet weather appeared to relax the Foxes as the afternoon past. It was turning out to be a very good session. But still no Fox cubs seen.

Elegant Terns are great divers and very successful at what they do. They dive fairly deep compared to some of the other terns, and then they shake the water off of their wings after they dive, as they rise back out of the water.
The shake
Juvenile Forsters Tern shaking the water off its feathers in flight after an unsuccessfully diving on a fish. It is fun to watch the contortions that these terns get into when drying their feathers.
