We were walking around the lake and stopped at one of the small docks. While we were looking towards the other end of the lake, we heard a huge splash and looked in time to see this Osprey coming out of the water with a fish. She circled around and around us to give more shots but of course, they are backlit. We missed the dive, but love seeing them come out of the water and shake!
This man and his dogs stopped on the opposite side of the river from me to play Fetch. I wasn't thrilled to see them because they scared away the heron standing in the river that I was just about to focus on. But the dogs were having such a good time running in and out of the water that I couldn't stay mad for long, lol. : )

A grizzly bear sitting in the water, shakes off water with flying water droplets. I'm not sure how effective it is try to shake off water when actually sitting in the water 😀. The bright turquoise water surrounding the bear is unaltered and unenhanced from the original file. Chilko River, BC.

Feeling very lucky today, no major issues either here or that I’ve heard off from my family thus far. Just trying to shake loose all those tensions from the storm and focus on the days ahead.
Kind of like this young Reddish Egret from Fort DeSoto Beach this past weekend.
This little blue heron surely knew how to shake it up while it was non-stop fishing. Sometimes it made a big splash without success and other times he/she scored.

After spending some time in the water hunting for salmon, a wet grizzly bear headed to the shoreline for a good shake. He/she has a lovely background of golden fall sedge grass. Cariboo Chilcotin, British Columbia.

My poor little pal little here is lucky he had his fur coat, hat and mitts on as he was "plowing" through the snow face first on the feeder to get a wee bite. I caught him as he was shaking the snow off.
Some times you just have to "shake it off" and go with the flow. Literally.

This is a female common pochard that went with the usual final shake after diving and bathing and cleaning its feathers. When there are a lot of birds on the water, it is impressive to see how many of them are actively preening themselves at any given time. This gives a good idea of how much each individual bird spends on taking care of its feathers during winter time. Different sources estimate between 10 and 25% of the total time goes into preening, which shows how important that activity is to keep heat insulation intact and the feathers clean.
