Haubentaucher bei der Gefiederpflege

This egret caught a fish, then shook it around, splattering water everywhere.

This is the same bear as in the first comment box below that most of you have seen before.

I like how the water looks coming off his eye and the bit of pink you can see in his nostril, LOL!

This egret had landed recently, and looked perfectly smooth until it did this shake, which fully displaced so many feathers!

Song: The Shake

Shake it to the left

Shake it to the right

Come on baby you know what I like

Shake it real funky shake it real low

Shake it 'til you can't shake it no more

It's a natural attraction

Mother nature wouldn't make a mistake

What really turns me on is the shake

Yes, this is the same bird as yesterday's photo! While drying himself off, the Ruby-crowned Kinglet really showed me where he gets his name. I've never seen this much red on one before, and it's frankly amazing to me how thoroughly he keeps it hidden. Glendale, Missouri

...or maybe crunch and munch. he was crunching on it, spinning it, and repeating the crunch thing.... Then it would position the critter just so, and swallow it.

“I'm not going down on my knees begging you to adore me

Can't you see it's misery and torture for me?

When I'm misunderstood, try as hard as you can

I've tried as hard as I could

To make you see

How important it is for me

Here is a plea from my heart to you

Nobody knows me as well as you do

You know how hard it is for me to shake the disease

That takes hold of my tongue in situations like these

Understand me…”

Every now and again you get that slightly less elegant and dignified moment!

Haubentaucher bei der Gefiederpflege

I have named him scar as he has an open wound on his neck and an older injury on his flank.

Although the neck wound looks nasty it doesn't seem to be impeding him unduly. While we watched him he caught numerous fish so he certainly is capable of hunting.
