The ruins of Corfe castle casting long shadows in the early morning light, with the last of the mist slowly burning off. Decided to keep the sun out of frame to reduce any flare. Taken the same morning as my previous Corfe shot.
Trying to figure out how shadows work. Studying shadows.

A magnificent winter scene of High Street, with the dark shadow in the Riggindale Valley.
The view across Haweswater from Mardale Common is always a sight to behold. On this morning I was out with John Bleakley and we were waiting for the sun to light up our forecground on another composition. This was just a hand held snap of the fells across the valley.
Here we have a snowy High Street leading off to Short Stile, the Straights of Riggindale and then Kidsty Pike on the right.
Film: Fuji Acros 100 II
Format: 35mm
One of the better shots with this Acros 100 II. First time shooting and for me it was very hard to get details in the shadows! A big learning curve. Mustn't complain-it's what I love!

This young whitetail was in a wooded area with his mother and sister and I managed to catch him with a stray bit of sunlight in the otherwise shadowy area.
Spotted this on a walk through the park with the dog. Strong enough sun to make shadows! No data apparent on the iPhone 6+ photos - a mystery to solve. HFF!
Handrail and shadow photographed at Union Station in Toronto on November 29, 2021. This is a composite (quad) image created in Photoshop from a frame shot on an X100F Fujifilm camera.
Shadows from an old viaduct over the now disused railway line in the Lune Valley, near Firbank, Cumbria
That railway photographers dilemma - when something interesting is running and where best to try for the shot, but with the added difficulty - its after dark.
I was in Leeds at dusk last Sunday looking for interesting compositions and failing miserably but that’s another tale. After giving up but before starting for home, a quick check if anything of interest is running when lo and behold an STP freight with Class 60 60046 running 6Z55 Derby Chaddesden Sidings to Carlisle Kingmoor will pass through Leeds and my local station in about 40 minutes. Now here’s the dilemma where to go to stand any chance of a photograph, I tried a couple of spots out of Leeds which were just too dark, even Stourton Freightliner terminal with a bright moon there’s not much lighting, so with 5 minutes to spare I settled on Woodlesford Station, hoping the station lights would provide enough illumination - and here’s the result.
I did take a burst of shots, I have one with the locomotive nose nicely illuminated under the station lamp, which I may share at some point, but for some reason which I can’t put my finger on I preferred this one.
