We both left work early and ran some errands. My body is incredibly sore from working out this week but we wanted an active rest day so we also went and walked 2 miles around the park before a big pasta dinner to celebrate my late father in law’s birthday. It was a beautiful day and I hope these photos always bring me fond memories.

Initially I was going to name this “I love…” but my centering of myself was off and it was half in shadow and half in the sun. What is very visible is the one that made me laugh, “Sam is hot and sweaty…” I also really like the way my shadow selfie is distorted.
Day two of digging out is mostly just busting up ice everywhere. We got a fair amount of snow and then between 2-3” of ice formed (luckily on the ground but not the trees/powerlines). Our car is stuck for now, but we went out and walked on top of the snow for a few minutes today. The temps are terribly cold though, so when it warmed up to almost 20°F it felt like a good time to go out and look around. Lots of shadows and paw/claw prints everywhere. If the temps hold I may try for a shuffle around the block later.

Fabric shadow work is very popular in Lucknow, India and is often done on fine muslin kurta.
The two blouses on the right show the front an back of the blouses which are made from cotton net and are over 100 years old. they belonged to my mother-in-law.
I was unable to photograph them well, so I drew them because I wanted them to be seen
