THE SHADOW SELF 🌚; someone I have been living too closely alongside for the last three years. pain, grief, anxiety, fear, sadness, doubt, anger, helplessness, isolation: these are all words that accurately paint a (rather small) picture of my recent life, since moving to Dallas. hindsight is always 20/20: my heart breaks every time I think of how much happiness I overlooked before this place. outside of my life partner & close family, I have spent the better part of the last three years alone—isolated, by myself, left to my own mind. And I have spent much of this time mulling over who I am, what I mean to this world, how to unpack my past. I probably couldn’t have gone through all of this, arrived where I am now (still sorting through it), without so much time alone. But I think it’s important to mention: if someone means something to you, if someone has made a positive impact on you in your life, tell them. Check in on them. And show up for them in the same way you would want to be shown up for. A little kindness goes a long way; do you know what burdens your loved ones are carrying? All we really have in this world—the only things that truly matter—are our relationships, and our experiences. Nurture yours first. And then, don’t forget to spread the love whenever you are able. 🌞 here’s to light, and love, and laughter, even in the dark times.
