Olympus Trip 35 / B&W ISO 400 (expired)

He stands with hands on hips, bold and defiant, facing the void as if daring it to blink first. But the ground tells a different story. The shadow he casts is not his own - or rather, not the self he wears now. It is the child he once was. The one who stood in the same pose, fists clenched not in power, but in wonder.

The adult figure is all posture. All armor. But the shadow is raw. Curious. Unafraid to ask why the clouds look like dragons or whether the wind remembers your name.

This is not a glitch of light. It’s a reckoning.

The image is a portal: the man is standing at the edge of forgetting, and the child-shadow is pulling him back. Not to innocence, but to origin. To the moment he first named the stars. To the first time he danced without music. To the first time he believed that stories could save him.

The cloudy textures above? They’re not weather. They’re memory storms. The kind that roll in when you’re about to remember who you were before the world taught you to pose.

This is a reminder that every silhouette is stitched from choices, losses, and the quiet ache of becoming.

This reminds me of something else, but it actually is:

"Lumina" is an immersive installation that uses the medium of light and colour to create a three-dimensional optical illusive cocoon. Based on the concept of "light art and light painting" this playful installation invites the public to be submerged in a series of never-ending glowing canvases — part of the Winter Light Exhibition 2020, seen at Ontario Place.

FORESHADOWING : ...gewaltige ereignisse werfen ihren schatten voraus... ;)

I ascribed to Iyanla Vazant ( www.amandashome.com/cried.html ) when she said:

" I cried for all the things I had given, only to have them stolen;

for all the things I had asked for that had yet to show up;

for all the things I had accomplished, only to give them away,

to people in circumstances, which left me feeling empty,

and battered and plain, old and used "

But that was Yesterday.

Today, I am reborn. No more the weak, the meek, the downtrodden.

I've discovered how strong I can be in the face of injustice, humiliation and torment.

That strength came from giving up values that I previously nurtured in my soul.

As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account

I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.

If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:
