Once you have taken in some of the enormous views of the US landscapes it is the details that often capture your eye. Of the dry and hot places we visited it was allays amazing to see how trees managed to eke out an existence from seemingly barren rock.

The heat is beating down. The fox rests in the shade. Taken through a screen door that's why you can see the tinkle in his eyes!

Too late for the Flickr Friday theme of "shade" this week but I did get out and shoot for it!

A vintage lamp casts a shadow. I like trying to make normal things look less boring.

Some shade along the path between Baldwin Beach and the Tallac Historic Site.

It's been a while since i changed Locke's wig. Almost exactly like his stock one (which was too frizzy) since i love him this way <3

WIT: I thought Basia's picture of the lampshade with the perspective of looking up into the shade was cool. This was shot from my floor lamp, with the energy-saving bulb. In post, just brightened the surrounding shade a bit, as when I shot the picture, I exposed for the light bulb. No crop in post.

When visiting Marrakesh in December 2018, exploring the country with its culture and people was the main reason. Escaping the cold Dutch winter temperature was a reason too, although we looked for shade in the blazing midday sun. I found this local enjoying the fade in Marrakesh.

Under the canopy of Horseshoe Thicket in Walthamstow Marshes. This area is flooded from late autumn to late spring, and so heavily shaded the rest of the year that little can grow there.
