I had captured the unstylized portraits of Jharkhand women and girls last month.

Saint-Pardoux was erected in the second half of the 12th century as a church for a priory, dependent from the Benedictine Abbey Saint-Étienne in Baignes.

The single-nave church got enlarged later and restored/rebuilt in the 19th century. It is claimed, that the facade is inspired by the construction of the cathedral of Angouleme. I do not see a strong influence. The carvings of the facade and all around the apse are very elaborate and come from very skilled and experienced workshops.

Compared to the exterior splendor, the interior of Saint-Pardoux is simple and sober. The sculpted capitals here differ from the works outside.

The capitals are pretty rough. It seems, that the Benedictines spent all the funds for the exterior decoration, when the church was built, so they did not employ a skilled artist here.

The topics differ as well - and seem a bit inadequate for a priory.

The previous upload had a scene, that could be described as "sexual harassment". Here is a kissing couple - and a female raising her arms (in despair? taken alarm?). The couple is sitting. Note the small leg of the kissing warrior (helmet).

Violence against women and girls is everyone's problem. It brings down an entire society. We are ALL touched by femicide in India. Census data shows that poverty and illiteracy are not key factors in India’s female genocide as many assume. The survival of girls is determined by a patriarchal politics of wealth control.

In recent years, the voices of survivors and activists, through campaigns such as #MeToo, #TimesUp, #Niunamenos, #NotOneMore, #BalanceTonPorc and others, have reached a crescendo that cannot be silenced any more.

I refuse to understand why something like this would be necessary in a civilized country. I haven't seen or heard of it in other countries I've visited (except where they keep men and women separate for religious reasons) but here in Japan it's just one of those things that people seem to accept as normal.

To me, the idea of having "women only" cars on the train for the main reason of preventing (some) men from groping or sexually harassing them is very far from normal and a clear sign that there's something seriously wrong in the Japanese society. So is having signs on the walls of the stations stating that "groping is a criminal offense". To me, it all points to a bigger issue that needs to be addressed.

I remember a few years ago when I was on the train home from work and I started discussing this issue with some female colleagues. I told them how I found it bizarre, almost funny how clearly the point was made but at the same time how obvious it must be to the common man that this is something you just don't do. I couldn't believe it when all four of them answered that they had experienced older men trying to touch or grab them on a train or bus (!) . . .

Fact:

In 2002, a study on 8th to 11th graders found that 85% of the females and 78% of the males had been sexually harassed, either by other classmates, administrators, teachers or adults.

Take action.

Stop the abuse.

Inspired Women are Empowered Women

The goal of gender equality has been at the centre of the economic and political agenda during the two decades since the adoption of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. In September 2015, world leaders adopted the 17 new global Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets. Goal 5 focuses specifically on gender equality and the empowerment of women. Financial independence is key to women empowerment.

Against sexual harrassement: "This is my ass, not an invitation"

On a Wednesday in May 2012, inspired by snowballing social media discussions on sexual harassment in Egypt, a group of independent activists took the conversation to an offline public. They aimed to build support in Cairo and beyond, using the most simple of approaches: the country’s first ‘human chain’ against sexual harassment.

A Confucianism-dominated society like Korea is not going to be women-friendly. The death grip of Confucianism did not lessen until the advent of industrialization. Nevertheless, married women could not own property nor have custody of her children as recently as 1990, children were required to use the family name of the father until 2008, and sexual harassment, driven by a machismo culture somewhat similar to that of southern Europe, was quite common.

This public service poster on a Seoul Subway Line 2 train has the following five tips to help women fight back:

- Express discomfort over unwanted bodily contact right away.

- Ask for help from nearby passengers.

- Use the emergency intercom in the train.

- Call the subway police, as well as the 112 crime hotline.

- If you witness sexual harassment, please take photos as evidence.

Former Mountie paints picture of near daily harassment

RCMP Constable Janet Merlo says she felt compelled to respond when a supervising officer made a sexist remark to her in the company of a high-ranking official from the force.

“You know, if I were to make a complaint, I could probably retire on just what you say to me alone,” she said.

“What was that?” her boss replied. “Did you say you want to retire on me? Does that mean you like it on top?”

The male campaigners also captured the attention of the media. Popular TV personality Amr Adib spent 3 minutes of his daytime television show, Al Qahera Al Youm, reading the messages and broadcasting photos from the day. It also sparked coverage and discussion in newspapers, online portals and blogs.

TOPLINE : SpaceX paid $250,000 in 2018 to resolve allegations that CEO Elon Musk sexually propositioned a flight attendant aboard one of the company’s corporate jets, Insider reported Thursday, in a story the tech billionaire dismissed as a “politically motivated hit piece.”

KEY FACTS: The flight attendant told her friend that Musk propositioned her in 2016 in his private cabin during a flight to London, Insider reported, citing unpublished documents and emails, as well as a declaration signed by the flight attendant’s friend — neither of whom Insider named.

Musk allegedly “exposed his genitals” to the attendant, touched her thigh and said he would buy her a horse if she gave him an “erotic massage,” according to Insider, which interviewed the friend and reviewed the friend’s declaration (Insider said the flight attendant declined to comment).

The attendant told her friend that, after she refused Musk’s alleged advances, her work shifts were reduced, giving her the impression that she was being punished, Insider reported.

According to Insider, the flight attendant filed a complaint with SpaceX’s human resources department in 2018 that was resolved without reaching arbitration after the attendant signed an agreement not to sue or to disclose information about Musk or his businesses, in return for a $250,000 severance package.

In an email to Insider, Musk dismissed the story as a “politically motivated hit piece” and claimed there was “a lot more to this story.”

Musk and SpaceX did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Forbes.

KEY BACKGROUND

Musk’s accuser reportedly told her friend that, after beginning work as a cabin crew member, she was urged to become a licensed masseuse so she could give Musk massages, according to Insider. SpaceX employs an in-house massage therapist and offers massages as a perk to some employees. Musk has not been publicly accused of sexual misconduct before, though four female former SpaceX interns publicly alleged they faced sexual harassment at the company, including nonconsensual grabbing from male employees. SpaceX president and COO Gwynne Shotwell promised employees that the company would “rigorously investigate” all harassment claims, though at least one of the interns said she never received a response to sexual misconduct complaints she lodged with the company’s human resources department, the New York Times reported. Six women have also sued Tesla, where Musk is CEO, alleging they were subjected to “rampant sexual harassment” by other employees.

Young woman holds up sign about disarming rapists, other protesters march behind her.

This happened in June 2001 on Nath Ghat at Pushkar Lake.

I was walking home late (10pm) one night and passed a sadhu walking in the opposite direction to me. I (unwisely) greeted him Sita Ram and kept walking.

the sadhu then starts calling to me 'Are you Hindu madam?' (Obviously, I am not.)

I ignored him and kept walking but when i reached a dark corner the sadhu ran back and grabbed my arm. Making disgusting kissing noises, he tired to pull me down onto the ghat.

At first i resisted and stared saying No Baba, what are you doing but he insistently kept pulling on my arm and i realised that he wasn't going to let me go.

Since there was nothing left to do, I landed a perfect punch right on his jaw which gave him such a fright that he let go of my arm and ran away accompanied by my shouts.
