"Dominic Strauss-Kahn is a powerful global figure who has been accused of a string of sexual offences and is still under investigation for his role in a prostitution ring. By inviting him to speak, the Cambridge Union risks colluding with attitudes that condone or trivialise violence against women. Ironically the event comes one day after International Women's Day (8th March) when people around the globe will be taking action on sexual and other violence against women." - Holly Dustin, Director of the End Violence Against Women Coalition

The Cambridge Union Society's decided to invite Dominique Strauss-Kahn, an international figure accused of a series of sexual offenses, including the rape of Nafissatou Diallo's. In response the CUSU Women's Campaign invited Diallo's attorney, who is pursuing a civil case against Strauss-Kahn for sexual assault in the US. He discussed the details of Diallo's case as well as how legal systems can systemically disadvantage both women and immigrants.

UCLA asked victims of sexual assault (and people who knew victims of sexual assault) to make shirts to express their thoughts.

Shirts were hung in the Court of Sciences and Dickson Court. And there were quite a lot.

Washington DC, October 6 2018. Thousands gathered in front of the U.S. Supreme Court to oppose the imminent confirmation of Judge Brent Kavanaugh to the position of Associate Justice by the Senate. A smaller group sat down on the Capitol steps and over a hundred were arrested when they refused to move. A still smaller group of spirited protesters packed the Senate Gallery and punctuated the shameful proceedings below with shouted chants and commentary until they too were hustled out with some arrests. As predicted, Kavanaugh was confirmed by two votes, one of the smallest margins in the history of the Court.

In a morning tweet President Trump boasted that "Women for Kavanaugh, and many others" supporting his nominee were "gathering all over Capitol Hill" but I counted only twenty five at best. Going forward we await the pushback against Trump and his Republican supporters at the polls this November and beyond.

The Clothesline Project

The broken bones have healed; the bruises faded. But just because the physical scars are gone does not mean I'm healed. I still wake up screaming in the middle of the night. I still flinch when someone moves too fast. I expect every man to rape and beat me just like you, Daddy.
