Macro Mondays 04/09/17 theme connection
For this shot I cut a piece of electrical wire stripped the ends. I then attached one wire of a low voltage transformer to an exposed section of wire below the scene.The photo was then taken with a slow shutter speed and flash.The flash lit the wire and the I used the other wire from the transformer to create the sparks by connecting it to each of the stripped wire ends.

A small gray, black, and white bird of open areas, the loggerhead shrike hardly appears to be a predator. But it uses its hooked beak to kill insects, lizards, mice, and birds, and then impales them on thorns to hold them while it rips them apart.
The loggerhead shrike is a predator, but it does not have the strong feet and talons of a raptor. It does have a strongly hooked bill for gripping flesh, and a strong notch or "tooth" near the bill tip that helps sever the spinal cord of its prey. It uses thorns and barbed wire to hold large prey while it rips it up, and may wedge prey into a fork in a branch for the same purpose.
The population of this species has declined in the northeastern parts of its range, possibly due to loss of suitable habitat and pesticide use.
I found this one along Joe Overstreet Road in Osceola County, Florida.
A quick photo taken on a gloomy and windy day. It had just started to rain again so I hurried to get this and headed off. Taken on the Pambula River at Severs Beach. The tide was starting to come in and the current coming back from the ocean. I was thinking I had not seen a snake for a while and was not disappointed as I saw a red-bellied black snake soon after taking this photo. They are not deadly but give a nasty bite. They are not as excitable nor a deadly as other Australian snakes. It was 20 degrees Celsius and the snakes quite like that as well as the rain. Ben Boyd National Park on the Sapphire Coast NSW.

Seminole Gulf (SGLR) B39-8E 591 switches cars in the small yard in Fort Myers, FL as they prepare to work customers in the area.
At the time of posting this, the Fort Myers area as well as surrounding communities were greatly impacted by Hurricane Ian toward the end of September. The hurricane managed to destroy several bridges along the railroad including three in Fort Myers, severing the line from connections with CSX in Arcadia, FL. It will likely take months before SGLR is completely operational again and likely longer for the communities affected by the hurricane to recover. Prayers to those that lost their homes and to anyone who was impacted by this devastating storm.

The ivy stem has been cut destroying the life of the plant and preventing it in its turn destroying the dry stone wall. It leaves its bare arteries and veins for us to see!
EN: The first bulgaria class 07 loco, 07 001, is shunting at Ловеч-Север/Lovech-Sever station with some freight cars containing scrap metal. The engine arrived with a single open freight wagon as ЛТВ 24792 from Троян/Trojan earlier. Now the other cars have to be weighed at the northern end of the station. During this maneuvre the in my eyes stunning socialist platform underpass is passed. When the shunting is finished, the whole train now consisting of eleven cars will continue on towards Левски/Levski, where this branch line meets the main line. The picture was taken using a drone.
DE: Die erste Lok der bulgarischen Baureihe 07, 07 001, rangiert im Bahnhof Ловеч-Север/Lovetsch-Sewer mit einigen offenen Güterwagen mit Schrott. Die Ludmilla kam kurz zuvor mit einem Wagen als ЛТВ 24792 aus Троян/Trojan an. Nun werden die hier aufgenommenen Wagen zu Gleiswaage am nördlichen Ende des Bahnhofs geschoben. Dabei passiert das Gespann die in meinen Augen sehr schöne sozialistische Bahnsteigunterführung. Nach Abschluss der Rangierarbeiten geht es für den Zug weiter bis nach Левски/Lewski. Dort erreicht die hier zu sehende Nebenbahn die Hauptstrecke. Das Bild wurde mit Drohne aufgenommen.
