I thought that the Queen Anne's Lace was a rather elegant serving platter for the renegade verbena. It's always fun to see unexpected sights such as this.

Serving Spring is a macro photograph of an Anemone Flower. It is a part of a series called 'Plates' which was inspired by antique Chinese 1000 flower plates.

This scene was taken in the late afternoon when I least expected it. Several groups were waltzing above the flowers, it was magical.
There are about 225 described species in the genus Delias. The butterflies are popularly known as Jezebels. Most species are gaudily patterned in red, yellow, black and white - the colours serving to advertise their unpalateable nature to would-be predators.
Many of the species are highly localised, being endemic to particular islands in south-east Asia, or restricted to certain mountain ranges.
The genius of the hole: no matter how long you spend climbing out, you can still fall back down in an instant.
The average Clan member and his family lived in a small single family home, which were grouped into small villages or townships consisting of only a few families. Due to the sever winters in this area of Scotland, snows of 6 and 7 feet are not uncommon, the livestock was kept in the home during the worst part of the winter. The average house was divided into two areas. The first and lowest in elevation were the animal pens. The rest of the house was the living area with the centre section serving as a living room, dining room, kitchen and bedroom in one small room. The other end of the house was reserved for storage of items during the winter and a very special box bed. There were no walls separating the areas just dividers, which were sometimes made out of wicker.

The Reading & Northern “mountain job” serves Universal Forest Products in Gordon, Pennsylvania. The customer’s lumber business is located on the one-time site of the Reading locomotive facility. Gordon gained notice as the base for steam’s last stand on the Reading, when the last active T1 4-8-4’s were assigned to helper service here until 1957.
CP G13 pops across the bridge at Northern Maine Junction on the former Bangor and Aroostook mainline from Searsport, now the CP Bangor Subdivision, behind three matching GP20C-ECOs. In the distance is the BAR coaling tower located across from the railroad's former corporate offices in Hermon. CP's acquisition of CMQ in 2020 marks the fourth time the Bangor and Aroostook has changed hands since losing its independence in 1995.

Roasted Chicken with Cabbage and Prunes
Coq au chou et aux pruneaux
(6 servings)
1/2 cup plus 4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
16 pearl onions, peeled
5 carrots, peeled and cut into 2-inch pieces
4 celery stalks, cut into 2-inch pieces
6 cloves of garlic, separated and peeled
salt, to taste
3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
1 (4-5 lb) chicken, rinsed and patted dry
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1 1/3 cup pitted prunes
1 very small green cabbage, cored and quartered
1/2 cup wine
1 cup chicken stock
Preheat oven to 450F. Heat 2 tablespoons of the olive oil in a large, heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onions, carrots, celery, garlic cloves, and ¼ teaspoon pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. When the vegetables are caramelized, spoon them along the sides of a large roasting pan and set it aside – or place in a romertopf.
Reduce the burner heat slightly and allow the pan to cool a bit.
Add 2 tablespoons oil to pan and return the pan to medium-high heat. Season the prepared chicken, and brown it in the hot oil (the chicken will not brown when baked.) Transfer the chicken to the center of the roasting pan where you have added the vegetables, pour the pan juices on top of it and rub it with the parsley, rosemary, thyme, and lemon zest.
Add the wine to the skillet and deglaze, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. After the wine has simmered for 30 seconds, add the chicken stock and heat through. Pour the wine sauce over the chicken and place the prunes and cabbage on the caramelized vegetables. Cover the roasting pan with a lid or tightly sealed foil and roast in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes.
Serve with steamed potatoes.

I was out taking photographs when I saw these dried geranium leaves. It started drizzling, so I brought a lot of them home and continued the photoshoot on a light box.

With the participants on the list, I was nervous, to say the least. But I went ahead and pushed through the nervousness, meticulously searching for items that were identical or pretty darn close to my inspo photo. The large ship is actually a cruise boat. the other two are serving it to take folk onshore at Kos, Greece.
In the early 1900s, John Odegard whose father immigrated from Norway, opened the first Ford car agency in 1912 in the small
country town of Santiago, Minnesota. Evidently he was an earnest entrepreneur as in addition he eventually started a creamery, a bank and probably this general store in Santiago.
I couldn't find anyone on the streets of this burg who could enlighten me to the various uses it has served throughout the 100 years it has stood although the upper level has been used as a residence at times.
General stores were not just the place to buy groceries, clothing, tools and seed. They often served as a town center as
going to the general store was a chance to socialize with other families and catch up on the latest news, both local and national.
The advent of paved roads and more accessibility to cars that allowed folks to travel further distances to larger markets to purchase goods at lower prices hastened the wide-spread demise of general stores in many communities.

Union Pacific GP9 203 and crew are in Council Bluffs back in late July of 1976. In a timeless scene, they're about to start serving the local industries. Timeless may apply to the scene but the 203 doesn't share that good fortune. In four short years, this good looking GP9 will be sold for scrap. Sad ending for a classic veteran.
A while ago I asked Miss Aniela , to try to make a little project with me.
The results are beyond fantastic and I am so happy to present you two versions that we came up with - one made by Miss Aniela ( on Aniela's page ) and one mine (above).
It was pretty hard job we took on ourselves not knowing what picture the other side will provide, but I guess we briliant enough to manage even with such an obstacles ;) :D
