a shot just before i put the new heatsinks on.

 

today i received some CPUs by mail (not insured, not nothing and on the outside it said what it contains, two Xeons including value... it's a miracle they arrived! (well, or my mailman isn't a geek, which is quite possible)...

 

these are for my second server, so in total, my website will run on four (old) xeons... four cores! ...eeeerm... ;-)

At Cyber-HQ things are running a little slow. Newton can't remember just where these go.

The power supply has been fitted and wired up, as have the pass through connectors for Ethernet and USB. Now all that remains is the Pi.

this is great. ARD'd into a remote XServe, downloaded the OS Install disk image, restored it onto a spare HD installed in the machine, rebooted, pointed Server Assistant at it, and I'm installing without having to go over to the server room.
