We got a bunch of new servers and putting them in our new rack in the Holland, MI data center.

on the 4th floor was located the server room, they took some dismantling as they were rather large and this room had 10 of them,we soon chopped them up into lift size peices and all that remains were these cables under the floor, call for the cable guy :)

this is my compaq proliant server

A view of one of the new racks. Cable managers and shelves make this a nice addition.

The cables that run overhead all go back to our office servers in back.

My server had a little planned downtime, my server had to move to another rack and in the meantime I could swap some memory-modules... I also smuggled this C64 I just bought(!) inside the datacenter, but I couldn't fit it inside the rack... I'll mount some rails to it and take it back to the datacenter! :-)

When I sent VLC into full-screen mode for the 5th time, it sent the Window Server into a state of shock. This is what resulted - a highly distorted, wrapped screen, with vertical bars, and flickering tiny horizontal lines. I ended up having to force-restart the machine, as even a graceful restart from the command-line failed.

This unbelieveable mess is the router room at my office. I wouldn't want to be the guy to untangle this lot. Nasty.

This part is interesting. The grating is plastic, and underneath it you can access the motherboard's IO panel. There's a hole at the back that routes the cables to the IO panel.

It's like how you route cables through a hole in the back of a TV stand to get to the DVD player.

finally, after two years of collecting parts, I'm building server number two this weekend.

...and Bates helps me with it! ^_^

I'm using the HP Touchpad as a remote control. It's streaming everything from the server via Splashtop HD.
