Trapezia Crab Spider (Sidymella trapezia)
I have been seeing a number of these Crab Spiders in the garden recently. This one had caught a fly for dinner late yesterday afternoon on one of our African Daisies.
This image serves as a call to action, urging us to acknowledge the existence of marginalized communities and their struggle for basic necessities. It prompts reflection on the systemic issues that perpetuate poverty and the need for collective efforts to create a more equitable world. While the girl's identity remains anonymous, her indomitable spirit shines through, leaving a lasting impact on those who encounter her gaze.

Machu Picchu 20221127
Located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, the sacred Inca citadel built around 1450 and discovered in 1911, still hides enigmas and mysteries about its real purpose, which continue to be hidden to this day and which arouse the interest of both visitors and archaeologists from all over the world.
Due to its strategic location at the top of a high mountain, there are various theories about what it could mean for the Incas. Some argue that it was built as a great mausoleum for the Inca Pachacútec, while others claim that it was an important administrative and agricultural center whose cultivation areas served for the livelihood of its inhabitants. However, it is also considered that it was used as a necessary link between the Andes and the Peruvian Amazon or as a resting residence for the Inca governor.
The truth is that Machu Picchu is one of the greatest symbols behind what was the impressive architecture and engineering of the Inca Empire. Although its origin is still the subject of study, the value and significance it represented in its time, as well as its imposing design, have earned it to be considered one of the seven wonders of the modern world.
Where one can discover the illuminated splendor of Lahore Fort and Huzoori Bagh with the History by Night tour by the Walled City of Lahore Authority. Where history dances under the stars.
An enchanting and mesmerizing tour to Mughal era, like traveling in a time machine to the court of Emperor Akbar where a captivating saga of grandeur and magnificence unfolded. Renowned for their refined tastes and opulent lifestyles, the Mughal emperors orchestrated nightly spectacles that went far beyond the ordinary, embracing the extraordinary with unparalleled finesse. For the Mughals, the shroud of darkness wasn’t merely an absence of light; it served as a canvas upon which they painted a vibrant tapestry of extravagant entertainment, a testament to their sophisticated sensibilities and profound love for the arts. Immersed in a rich fusion of art, music, dance, and culinary brilliance, these imperial evenings not only dispelled the shadows but also left an enduring imprint on the pages of history.

This grebe had a successful fishing venture. I watched for over a minute as it worked this fish down its throat. On Commonwealth Lake.
Man Ray worked in a wide range of media including photography, painting, and sculpture often blurring the boundaries between these practices.Obstruction,an assemblage of sixty-three wood coat hangers,is an example of a type of artwork that Dada artist Marcel Duchamp called a readymade,a term that suggests Man Ray's appropriation and manipulation of preexisting, common objects. The sculpture playfully mimics a chandelier, but as the hangers seemingly divide and multiply,Obstruction quickly evolves into a dense tangle of overlapping forms.Cast shadows serve as distorted, immaterial extensions of its physical presence.Man Ray first created extension in 1920,but the present work belongs to an edition of fifteen reproductions he created in 1961 for an important exhibition of kinetic art.
This is a view of the Seattle skyline after a series of storms fiercely roiled above the city off and on throughout the day.
Seattle, in Spring, is one of those cities when almost every type of weather imaginable is listed -- and SERVED -- on the menu from hour to hour, or every 30 minutes. Take a sip of your drink as I set the scene for you.
You are figuratively sitting at the table, wholeheartedly curious to see what will be featured in the next course because Chef Mother Nature is bringing out her very best today: high winds and drizzle, some "shy-and-goodbye" sunshine, a feast of tempest teasers, more "peek-a-boo" sunshine, a feisty storm and sun combo with a side of rainbow delight, etc. Sometimes you want your taste buds to get accustomed to the new flavors, but often, you don't have time because the next meal has just been prepared for your consumption. The Chef does not care if you haven't had time to acclimate. This is her show.
You get the picture...well, you literally are about to now!
After all the different meals, you are stuffed. However, though your hunger has been overwhelmingly satiated, and your palate has experienced a multitude of spices and seasonings, you know you need to end the meal with an appetizing, gooey, decadent dessert. (Plus, you know it's coming after that fiesta of diverse foods). On this day, we were treated to an intriguing mix of orange and peach skies with smooth breezes above the bay to close the day. Scrumptious, sweet, and delicious, yes?
Alas, I hope you enjoyed our dessert. I know I did.

Years ago I bought a pack of 'Happy to Serve You' disposable paper cups in N.Y., to bring home a litlle Morning-New-York-Style to the somewhat slower countryside mornings in Denmark.
The flash was on automatic, and didn't go off on most of the images, but in this one, the coffee looks just as golden as the first cup tastes :-)

Esztergom was the capital of Hungary from the 10th till the mid-13th century when King Béla IV of Hungary moved the royal seat to Buda. During the same period, the castle of Esztergom was built on the site of ancient Roman castrum. It served not only as the royal residence until the 1241 (the Mongol invasion), but also as the center of the Hungarian state, religion, and Esztergom county.
After changing his residence to Budapest, Béla IV gave the palace and castle to the archbishop. Following these events, the castle was built and decorated by the bishops. The center of the king’s town, which was surrounded by walls, was still under royal authority. A number of different monasteries did return or settle in the religious center.
Meanwhile, the citizenry had been fighting to maintain and reclaim the rights of towns against the expansion of the church within the royal town. In the chaotic years after the fall of the House of Árpád, Esztergom suffered another calamity: in 1304, the forces of Wenceslaus II, the Czech king occupied and raided the castle. In the years to come, the castle was owned by several individuals: Róbert Károly and then Louis the Great patronized the town.
The Ottoman conquest of Mohács in 1526 brought a decline to the previously flourishing Esztergom as well. In the Battle of Mohács, the archbishop of Esztergom died. In the period between 1526 and 1543, when two rival kings reigned in Hungary, Esztergom was besieged six times. At times it was the forces of Ferdinand I or John Zápolya, at other times the Ottomans attacked. Finally, in 1530, Ferdinand I occupied the castle. He put foreign mercenaries in the castle, and sent the chapter and the bishopric to Nagyszombat and Pozsony.
However, in 1543 Sultan Suleiman I attacked the castle and took it. Esztergom became the centre of an Ottoman sanjak controlling several counties, and also a significant castle on the northwest border of the Ottoman Empire. In the 17th century Esztergom was besieged and conquered several times during the Ottoman-Habsburg Wars. Most of the buildings in the castle and the town that had been built in the Middle Ages were destroyed during this period, and there were only uninhabitable, smothered ruins to welcome the liberators.
In 1761 the bishopric regained control over the castle, where they started the preliminary processes of the reconstruction of the new religious center: the middle of the Várhegy (Castle Hill), the remains of Saint Stephen and Saint Adalbert churches were carried away to provide room for the new cathedral.
violent storms on the Great Plains are notorious for the damage they can do...and for that reason much of the critical infrastructure such as power and cable lines are buried underground...additionally more storm-proof metal poles are being used such as the one on the far left above which leads to a water treatment plant that serves thousands of homes.
A simple meal of cheese, apple and bread. While simple, the Canadian cheddar, Honey crisp apples and home-made whole wheat molasses bread, make it delicious.

This aircraft served with the USAF from 1955 as 53-3290 and later the US Navy as 152689, before being retired to MASDC in 1978. It was sold to Hawkins & Powers of Greybull, WY in 1983 as N233HP but I don't know if it saw much use with that company. The aircraft was sold to Everts in 2005 but did not enter service till around 2008.
