山中湖 パノラマ台の上から

It's been a Summer of Monarchs. They've popped up almost everywhere from roadsides to rooftops, from parking lots to downtown cafes. But as September arrives, and the evenings get cooler, they won't be here too much longer. This one seemed to be gathering as much warmth as it could, just before sunset, on the top of a corn stalk early last evening.

"...September days are here,

With summer's best of weather,

And autumn's best of cheer."

- Helen Hunt Jackson

This is the courtyard at Powis castle and they are spoiling it with the umbrellas and tables, when we visited in middle of September.

It better to go in March/April before they put them out.

Towers of Light. Unfortunately you can't see both from my apartment.

Playing with puddles after a night of heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

Into the Woods (Plus Birdfeeder)

Don and I are off camping for the next couple of weeks as of Friday. See you in September, if we don't get eaten by a bear!

Such a wonderful time of year to be out and about. It has been a bit dry around here but for the prairie it's business as usual.

Thank you for all your kind comments and faves.

Shell Ridge Open Space, Walnut Creek, Ca. September, 2022.

This clump is all alone on the side of a large mulch pile!

A geranium on a backdrop of nasturtiums and wallflowers in my garden last autumn.

Hmmm, this guy seems a little too big for the feeder but that didn't stop him from grabbing a quick snack before flying off.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

This cat sleeps a lot for only being 8 months old. I know cats like their sleep, but this guy seems to be passed out 20 or so hours a day which seems excessive for a kitten.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

There's a bit of everything going on after an intense rain storm on a September afternoon. Adrian & Blissfield 1751 is slowly drying while the scenery glows with color. 9/20/22

An incredible autumn sunset last night brought an end to the month of September. We awoke to a gentle rain, much needed on our parched earth here in Northern California. Hoping for more clouded skies with the promise of rain.

Winter’s early arrival on September 8 left a glorious scene near Crescent on the Moffat Road. On the 7th temps were close to 80 here and smoky from the forest fires, this snow is a blessing. Wednesday September 9, 2020
