I always get a little extra sentimental around this time of the year because of all the great memories I have of Plum's arrival in my life. On January 28, 2006, my sweet and perfect Kozy, Plum, was finally delivered. As many people already know, I had been looking for a long time for the absolute perfect Kozy. The wait was worth it... and I don't think I've ever had a Blythe experience quite like that since I first held her. Here's an old blog post of mine that tells the story of Plum's arrival.
Like many of her previous birthdays, I've gotten all of her belongings together to fully appreciate the event. This photo helps capture the little celebration. I have all of Plum's original Kozy stock clothes and her box. The earmuffs are actually still brand new in their original plastic packaging taped inside the box. (I added that small circular picture of them since I couldn't get them in the photo.) I also have the shipping box that her previous owner shipped her inside. As you can see, it's rather bent and cracked... Unfortunately, that's the condition I received the shipping box in. u___u My heart just about stopped when I saw the exterior, but luckily, everything inside of it was in perfect condition.
One of my favorite things to look at is the printed off version of the private message conversation I had with Plum's previous owner on the This Is Blythe forum (back when it was booming with activity). If you read the blog post provided in the link above, you'll see how coming to own a Kozy through that conversation was fate. Plum had never been advertised as for sale on the forums; I had just somehow lucked into finding someone who was willing to part with her Kozy through conversation. Sometimes I read those pages over and over again, still in total disbelief! (The original virtual document was deleted when TIB did a random cleanup so this printed version is all I have left.)
The Kozy Kape Blythe doll was originally made in December 2001. The doll is eleven years old today. Plum has been with me for six years now... so she's spent the majority of her Blythe lifetime with me! <3

After the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy in January 1893, the United States was considering annexing Hawaii.
In the late 1890s, American political cartoons illustrated manifest destiny, or America's geopolitical and colonial expansion. The United States considered annexing Hawaii, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.
Cartoons portrayed the territories as children with dark skin, grass skirts, nappy hair, and bare feet. Uncle Sam personified the United States, their supposed warden.
Political cartoons expressed, shaped, reinforced, and reflected social, political, and racial conditions of a society. Therefore, newspapers used cartoons as propaganda to shape public opinion. As mirrors to public knowledge, cartoons showed what the public knew.

La rectora Àngels Fitó va poder saludar personalment a tothom que es va apropar al pati del Campus del Poblenou i va acomiadar aquest intens curs plegats i vadesitjar-nos un bon estiu, tot compartint una copa amb música en directe a càrrec de companys i companyes de la nostra universitat.

This is actually my 86 year old grandfather's camera that he bought in 1945. He had it when he went to the marines, when he got married, and on all of his adventures. This is one of my greatest treasures; I can't even imagine all the memories this camera has helped make. I am do privileged to have it in my possession. If only it still worked...
