Suffice it to say, monday is looming large, and i STILL have had no visit from the technology fairy. I think the least she could have done was send the software fairy in her place....i mean really...are there THAT many technologically challenged folks out there??? All i want is a simple explanation of how to merge 2 photos into one using layers.....is that too much to ask??? i have watched the blinkin’ video three times....i can make the layer......but can not fill it with anything.....it keeps taking my background and putting it in layer one....then i have no background! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......Lileigh knows exactly how i am feeling right now....i can tell!
i am done futzing for today...out of total frustration, i am off to bed, so that i am able to function at school tomorrow. My relentlessness and tenacity have been shaken to the core.....tomorrow is another day.
The rise of blogs and social networks has fueled a bull market in personal opinion: reviews, ratings, recommendations and other forms of online expression. For computer scientists, this fast-growing mountain of data is opening a tantalizing window onto the collective consciousness of Internet users. An emerging field known as sentiment analysis is taking shape around one of the computer world’s unexplored frontiers: translating the vagaries of human emotion into hard data.

Inspired by Maile Belles on the CASE Study Challenge.
I have used the WPlus9 flower, Hero Arts leaves, numbers and alphabet, and Avocado Arts scallop border and sentiment. I stamped the flower in Red Royal, but it looked a bit flat, so I added more colour with my copics.
“‘Sentiment Cocoon’ is an interactive installation that seeks to capture and express human sentiment through the medium of light. A simple interface allows participants to express how they feel by how they touch. These interactions are then transformed into pulses of light that travel throughout the cocoon.
“‘Sentiment Cocoon’ aims to represent a collective visualisation of the way people are feeling in the immediate environment of the installation on any given evening. The focus is on the exploration of architectural form, with translucent materials and responsive lighting to facilitate social interaction. Ultimately, the aim is to foster the notion of public spaces as the social centres of our cities.
“The lighting design creates an enigmatic display, with ambient light trickling into the cocoon from the sky and blending with light emitted from LEDs. This allows for a rich interaction of varying forms of light, which is diffused through the skin of the cocoon.
“The system architecture of the artwork allows for the tracking and displaying of several behaviours. These parameters are encoded into lighting patterns that suggest the collective mood of participants. The sentiments are encoded in different colours and movement. Colour gradients, velocity and movement are represented through patterns. Over time, the patterns become recognisable as the overriding sentiment of the evening.
“‘Sentiment Cocoon’ is yet another example of the increasing proliferation of media–architectural interfaces mediating architecture with human behaviour. These social applications will ultimately lead to responsive, adaptable and clever buildings that serve human wellbeing.”
A banner of patriotic pride...May she upright herself again.
When asked about this, the response was "A true patriot
would understand..."
Doces palavras e sinceros afagos
distribuídos sem motivo ou pudor,
simplesmente não são valorizados
ao menor sinal de rancor.
Pensamos então se vale a pena
tanto esforço para a felicidade alheia,
se no fundo da nossa cabeça pequena
a única sensação é infeliz e feia.
Mas quando vemos o sorriso
sorriso verdadeiro e sincero,
nada mais importa do que isso
pois todo esforço foi válido e belo.
There was also anti-German sentiment in Canada during WWII. Under the War Measures Act, some 26 POW camps opened and interred those who had been born in Germany, Italy and particularly in Japan, if they were deemed to be "enemy aliens". For Germans, this applied especially to single males who had some association with the Nazi Party of Canada. No compensation was paid to them after the war. In Ontario, the largest internment centre for German Canadians was at Camp Petawawa, housing 750 who had been born in Germany and Austria.
Approximately 850 German Canadians were accused of being spies for the Nazis, as well as subversives and saboteurs. By mid December 1939, all enemy aliens from Canada’s East Coast along with those interned at both temporary camps at Quebec City and Kingston, were transferred to Camp 33 at Petawawa.

WW II – 1939-1945 - Following the outbreak of WW II, approximately 40 POW/Internment camps opened across Canada, from New Brunswick to British Columbia, including several throughout Ontario and Quebec. The camps were identified by numbers; the camp at Petawawa was known as Camp 33, located on the Petawawa Forestry Reserve. Two temporary camps were also set up - one in Old Fort Henry, Kingston, ON and the other in the Citadel, Quebec City. Most of those interned in the Canadian camps comprised three ethnic groups – Germans, Italians and Japanese.
Petawawa - Camp 33 (formerly Camp P), opened on 23 September 1939 at the Forest Experimental Station, Centre Lake, 12 1/2 miles from Petawawa Military camp. There were twelve large barracks in the camp with 60 or more people each, surrounded by two high barbed–wire fences. Guarded by young soldiers and the Veteran’s Guard of Canada, the camp held Canadians of German, Italian and Japanese descent. In 1942, the civilians were transferred to other camps and their sleeping quarters were filled with German sailors, submariners, officers and soldiers.
The camp was officially closed on 31 March 1946.
(Vangelo secondo Filippo)
The winds of change...not 17 years ago it was "RUSKIES GO HOME" now it's "yankees". Apparently rednecks and slaveholders can stay.
